Whoa I never said anything about Shelvey being banned. Hypothetically though a player might play for the reserves when his ban was up and the Premier League usually give out bans in terms of games rather than time.

If we'd tried again to play a formation to suit Mitrovic we would have been relegated this season too. I don't necessarily subscribe to any theory that this makes him shite though. He's just not good enough to cover a team that has a load of average players in it. I think he could actually do ok for a mid level sort of premier league team.

Apparently Premiership players surprisingly regularly fail drugs tests for Cocaine and get three month bans. This is somehow kept out of the press. Sounds a little far fetched but it's what I was told the other day.

Even a new solo album would have been great. Sadly not to be. RIP.

True detective was superb this season I thought.

I loved Amadeus when I watched it. I must dig it out again. Blackkklansman. Not one of Spike Lee's best films but pretty decent. -
The difference in batting styles in that ODI yesterday was really good to watch. I know the wicket offered very little for the bowlers and that could have made for a very boring game even with such a big total to chase. But the way we went about it I thought was exceptional. Admittedly their fielding was awful and their attack was anything but strong. The calls for Roy to be given a go in the test team are getting louder and louder now.

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER

I only really know what is written in that article and according to that, Cardiff announced that the deal was all signed and he had been registered for their squad so it looks like everything that was required was received (if I remember rightly he was talked about as possibly being registered in time to play against us, so possibly he didn't need a work permit?). What McKay did on their behalf in terms of booking the flight is nothing to do with Nantes though is it? You would have though Cardiff would have arranged such things for their record signing themselves but if the transfer had gone through, it was no longer Nantes concern either way. I assume Cardiff would have had him insured from the moment he became their player. You would think the insurance company would be interested in knowing whether Cardiff had correctly safeguarded the asset they were insuring. Again this has nothing to do with Nantes though. They could seek compensation from McKay for their loss, but they would still have to pay. I agree that their claim certainly comes across as lacking in class but then again, I've got no idea what their finances are. They may be in a position that they can't afford for Cardiff to take their time over things. It appears that a large part of Cardiff's issue comes from whether or not they were mislead into thinking there were other clubs in for the player and so they paid over the odds. But I can't see how this is an argument not pay. It might make them not want to deal with McKay again but I can't imagine there's an agent out there who isn't doing the same thing. This is basically all coming from that one article though so I'm perfectly willing to accept some of the things in it might be biased or factually inaccurate. -

I've not read a lot about what they are claiming could have happened but on the face of it, it seems unlikely that any wrongdoing (there's bound to be some with Mckay involved) impacts at all on what Nantes are due from them. -
That seems to be for some sort of kids party! That's disturbing on so many levels.

Two things that mackems have said to me in the last week. "Their manager sets out to nick a 1-0 win". Strange since they seem completely incapable of keeping a clean sheet. And my personal favourite, "they have a team not suited to playing in league 1. The players down there play to physically for them. They're more suited to the Championship". Again strange since all of their players who have played in the championship have been spectacular failures in that league as far as I can work out.

I've not watched them myself but I'm told they've been playing pretty decently lately without getting any return for it. They've only got one win away from home all season. If we set up on the front foot like we did against Cardiff I'll be confident of a good win. If we set up like we did against Fulham it will be a long 90 minutes.

Class match between South Africanand Sri Lanka. Amazing finish and win for the away team.

Green Book. Enjoyed it. -
Yeah Dubravka made an arse of it even though he was fouled. He was trying make sure we won the game by get a hold of it (something he's usually done very well) but given the pressure he was under, a punch would have been much safer. I'd in no way be in favour of dumping him a this stage though. He's been very good for us much more than he's made errors that have cost. And Scharr should have blocked off the goal scorer like Lascelles did with the other player.

I know they are missing Holder this match and certainly haven't been helped by the injuries, but playing a correctly balanced team with an actual top order, even a far from great one, has helped massively I think. Jennings will be, deservedly, jettisoned after this match and unless he completely remodels his technique you can't see him getting back in. Christ knows who's going to replace him though. Apparently Nick Gubbins is one who they have looked at but his average is nothing to write home about. Roy looks as deserving as anyone as at least he's shown himself to be more than capable against top class bowlers. But of course that's not in red ball cricket so we'd be just about back to square one in terms of playing middle order players in the top order.

Great to see Wood come back at a real pace yesterday. The last few times I've seen him he's looked like he'd lost something but whether it's down to his fitness or his new run up, he was superb yesterday. Just in the nick of time for him too with Stone coming into the squad and Archer likely to get some sort of call up in the near future.

Yeah I looked it up on IMDB. It looks interesting, I'll try and see if I can get it online somewhere. Alita. Absolute dogshit (although not as bad as Robin Hood). The visuals and the fight scenes were pretty good but the script is fucking dreadful. I may have missed the point and maybe it's a kids film but it was a massive disappointment given the people involved. -
Root's comments about not winning games by scoring slowing were ridiculous really. The only player we have who seems to trying to convert to playing in a 'test' way is Stokes. But he's probably the player, given that he's the all rounder, that want to play in the way the rest of them are. The top order is the real problem though, the stroke players can't come in and play their way because the bowlers aren't being tired and ball isn't being worn. But when you look at which top order batsmen are scoring runs in County Cricket all you have is Burns and Hildreth (who's 34 I think) and Bell in division two. I think Roy may as well be given a chance even if he's just told to go out and get a quick score. That might not do the wearing down job of an opener but it might mean that by the time we're a couple of wickets down we have some sort of score on the board.

I'm not sure what that film is but this is very much in colour. -
Aye I think they need to look at changing how they do things. I suppose to be fair they recognised how far we'd fallen behind in white ball cricket and changed things successfully there but I think it's been to the detriment of the test team. I think that might be partly because of having Bayliss as coach. He's definitely more of a white ball coach. I think it may be time to look at splitting the role after his contracts ends.
-
The batting has been utterly pathetic so far. I hope Hammeed has a massive return to form at the start of the county season because we're seriously lacking in a top order.

Overlord. Was ok but a bit disappointing after the trailer looked really good. -

Not to make light of this, as it's clearly terrible news if something has happened to them as it looks like, but I must admit my first thought was there's another excuse for Ashley not to break our transfer record! -
This.
