  1. I use Runkeeper. It does distance, average pace, elevation, calories burned etc. There are probably better it's just the first one that was recommended to me. I use it more for psychological purposes to be honest. It's also good for working out training runs so you know before you set off that the route you're doing is going to be a 6 miler etc. I find it quite motivating to look back at what you've done over the past month/year and see that you've put the graft in and are going in the right direction. Running probably one of the hardest forms of exercise to get motivated to do, especially when the weather is shite.
  2. Yup. Scarily, on the way in to the Everton game I heard a lad say he would be happy with a point. Does anyone not realise we're running out of home games? We lost the right to get a point at home to anyone when we failed to beat any of the shite around us earlier in the season. We have to beat everyone at home now, simple as. That includes Chelsea as well. Happy with a point at home to Everton in the position we're in, fucking serious.
  3. I wouldn't let pace worry you, you get loads of clever shites on the day who gallop off who you catch at mile 3 walking and huffing and puffing. Best feeling in the world about the GNR is not necessarily the time you get but the fact you ran the whole thing. Being able to run 4 miles 9 months before the GNR is a great place to be. I'm serious about my running but I run at just over 9 minute a mile which is slow but what my body has decided I am capable of so I'll stick to that!
  4. Used to hassle the shit out of us just about everyday leaving Northumbria Uni, used to stand next to the car park opposite the City Hall and launch a flyer at you. He used to be a bit funny about who he let in to the Jazz Cafe as well. Wanted a young crowd so would turn away regulars if he thought they were too old.
  5. I was either a '????' or a 'No opinion.' All together now..you're not famous anymore! You're not famous anymore! Glad to hear Kirkley is doing well.
  6. Back running properly after I pissed about a bit end of Nov and all Dec and feeling fucking fantastic for it.
  7. Bairns birthday tomorrow. How are we all going to die by the way, it's something to do with floods isn't it?
  8. Got to be honest, always hated them as a kid so only went to a couple. This will take you back, it was Cinderalla at the Theatre Royal and the 'top celebrity' that year playing Buttons was the bloke who played Joey Boswell in Bread. Was dragged back as a 'surprise' by my mother in law one Boxing Day a couple of years back and it was alright. I only went for Faye from Steps to be honest.
  9. Someone put up a link to a knacker on facebook who had a detailed dossier of evidence to prove that this is all some sort of government set up hoax to bring about gun control in the US. Wolfytastic.
  10. On the positive side, East Anglia will be underwater sooner than predicted. Result.
  11. My surname gets mispronounced all the time even though it's easy as fuck, there's only 5 letters in it for fucks sake. Anyway, the rule is simple, if you ring me on a sales call whether at home or at work and you mispronounce the surname then it's game ower. You could be chucking in a free night with the Garrameister as part of the deal and you can still fuck off.
  12. Parky is right, we've got a set of home games there that are winnable but the key is we now REALLY need to win them. Draws against any of those lot really not good enough.
  13. I'll have to rain check this then if you're heading off to the Ouseburn after as I can't get to the Trent beforehand and need to stay in town after.
  14. What worries me is that we've so far failed to beat Reading, the mackems, Villa, and Southampton. Anything less than a win against QPR then we'll have failed to beat anyone in the bottom half bar Wigan. Need to start beating people at home, simple as. I remember saying this in 2008/09 as well though...
  15. Saw it a while ago. Alan Cummings wasn't it? He did go to SJP and meet Pedro. Nowt exciting like, apart from I didn't know there was a specialist Coffee shop on Ridley Place.
  16. If I remember, most of Beadle's About pranks were to do with people's personal property being dug up/destroyed/incinerated by private contractors. How they never had a GBH or a heart attack still baffles me.
  17. People will probably scoff but the best gig I've been to has to be Sherly Crow at the Tyne Theatre. Tickets were free (BBC Radio 2 concert), no pissing about, got quite lashed, was near the front. I've seen Crowded House and Neil Finn solo a lot and they've always been superb gigs, he's massively underrated imo. Now we come to Stephen Patrick Morrissey, a hero of mine. Have seen him 4 times. His gig in Manchester was one of the best I've ever been to, he was untouchable, brilliant. The other 3 were perhaps the worst I've been to. Sulky surly twat. After the last one I decided I'd never go and see him again. Still love his music, but if you're ever thinking about seeing him live them beware because if he isn't in the mood he's fucking terrible.
  18. I kind of understand that. My Great Uncle had a brother who was a POW in Japan and he was tortured to fuck, so he was massively anti-Japanese. On the flip side though, he was part of a choir and after the war they were sent over to Germany to tour as part of an attempt to build relationships and he loved it. Had loads of German friends after that, some even came to stay with him and my Auntie. Go figure. Anyway, RIP big fella.
  19. To be honest, I was always half expecting a lot of people on Beadles About to keel over and die of massive heart attacks.
  20. It's a shit idea disliked by everyone except the money men. And Alex.
  21. He's a little bit powder puff in the middle for my liking.
  22. The main problem by the end of his time here is that I had pretty much just given up reading what he posted. It could have been brilliant and original for all I know, but history dictated it was probably just the same old shit repeated. I do follow him on twitter though I must admit. The 140 character restriction makes me feel safe.
  23. I for one hope it doesn't hit London as we'll never hear the fucking end of it.
  24. I got home no bother really but one of the side roads I usually cut down was an absolute death trap, just one massive skating rink and I thought I might come a cropper. Main roads were ok, but by the sounds of it I got really lucky. This morning was a piece of piss getting in as there seemed to be very little traffic on the road, don't think people fancied driving in today..few days off pulled or going by public transport..
