We would essentially be financing Delap and Pedro, and giving them a PSR boost, when we are competing for a Champions League spot with them. I'd rather spunk silly money on Wissa or Larsen.
-
£60m for a player they paid £25m for 6 weeks ago 🤯 I know needs must, but the scouting and recruitment dept needs an overhaul after this Summer
-
He's worse than Osula.

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER

Didn't know Tom was a red? -
The Knight Ryder reckons we will go back with a higher offer
-
So how far down the list are we... Cunha Mbuemo Pedro Delap Ekitike Sesko Wissa Larsen I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but we'd have been better off offering Jonathan David a £30m signing on fee on day one of the window. If Brentford don't blink on Wissa then I suspect we will be getting bent over by Chelsea for Jackson on the last day of the window
-
That's been a recurring theme this window. So either the bloke in charge of our transfers can't read the room, or other clubs are taking the piss out of us. edit - or we get encouragement off the player and agent, but forget we've actually got to convince the club to sell first
-
What's worrying is that we were linked with him over a week ago. It's taken us all this time to bid for a player that Wolves have said isn't for sale unless we pay silly money. Feels like we've run out of ideas...

It's going one of two ways tonight isn't it? -
He's knee looks like a warzone judging by the pictures on twitter
-
Man Utd have been shite. Another midtable finish beckons. Fulham have been robbed today
-
Now Yoro getting away with a 2 handed shove in the back of a defender as he scores from a corner. VAR is on crack
-
Man Utd getting a penalty by VAR for grappling in the box when Luke Shaw is 5yds away chucking a Fulham defender on the floor at the same time
-
I struggle to believe Hall is still on £7k pw now that he's a starter for us and in the England squad. Also, that table means Isak was on the 2nd highest wage at the club 12 months ago (Joe/Gordon have signed new deals now) so I can see why doubling his wages wasn't our priority.
-
Time will tell, but the gulf between the PL and Championship is so big now, I reckon most teams can afford to have an historically shit season (see MUFC/THFC last year) and still be nowhere near going down.
-
- Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland nailed on to go down. - West Ham are shite. - Bournemouth, Brentford and Wolves may struggle after selling all of their best players. - Spurs look like they might be battling for a top 6 spot again. - Same with Forest. - Villa look a bit stale. - Jury is out on Manchester United. -Top 4 will be (in non particular order) City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. - We need to stay in the hunt for 5th.

The eternal optimist in me is hoping the radio silence on a striker target means we are making progress on someone and have gone tight lipped with the journos. Wissa seems the most likely culprit given he was dropped from Brentford's squad
-
Osula looked good as a sub and in cup games last season. He looked miles off the pace in pre-season though. He's been slightly hampered by getting his service from Targett and Ashby in most of those games though!
-
All gone quiet on the striker front...
-
If it was really 2 weeks before the end of the window that he announced his intention to leave, then it's shit timing. We could still have finished 2nd with 2 wins, had just won a trophy, were nailed on for a CL spot and knew we had a chunk of money to improve the squad. Makes me wonder whether the transfer is less about sporting ambition and more about doubling his wages
-
Burn, Hall, Tino and Trippier are probably all better at LB than Targett. We won't miss him.
-
Jackson Watkins Strand Larson Ramos Sorloth Wissa would all be upgrades on Wilson who looked shot in his last 6months here. No of them is fit to replace Isak though, and I suspect that, unless some random name crops up next week, we hold on to him for at least 6/12 months while we source a long term replacement. Like shite would I be offering a new contract at this point. He's still £150m next Summer if anyone wants him.
-
Selling Anderson and Minteh (who weren't near the first XI) made more sense than selling Gordon, who had just had a brilliant season for us, to a direct rival. Ekitike doesn't play LW so he wasn't a direct replacement anyway.
-
Not here hopefully, if Saturdays performance is anything to go by!
-
Alvarez cost them €90m didn't he?
