  1. Just posturing from Liverpool. They want Isak and his agent to force the issue now
  2. Aye, there are plenty of examples of clubs refusing to sell want away players. Spurs and Lucas Moura, Forest and MGW, Liverpool and Suarez. If any club can afford it, it's us. Tell him he can signs a new contract or leave on a free in 3 years.
  3. I think most fans feel the same. The local journos were leaking a budget of £150m, with 3 or 4 first team upgrades being looked at. 2 weeks before the season starts and we've lost a CM and CF without replacing them, are on the cusp of losing our best player, have signed a bang average keeper, and are dangerously short in CB, CM and CF. Not our fault that our targets went elsewhere, but 100% our fault that it takes us an eternity to pivot to other signings. Pedro to Chelsea was done in a matter of days. As was Trafford to City. Elanga aside, our squad is worse now than it was 6months ago.
  4. Still facing charges from the FA for failing to cooperate with the enquiry. Which begs the question "why wouldn't you cooperate if you did nothing wrong?" I know the press have suggested West Ham would sell him for £25-30m, but surely that's bollocks given Madueke etc have done for double that
  5. Gonzales at City is on the chopping block apparently. 6 months after they paid £50m for him to cover Rodri's injury.
  6. This is where I have some sympathy for the club. We can't realistically give Isak £300k pw, because when Bruno, Tonali, Joe, Gordon, Elanga come to renew they will all want parity, and then we are fucked. It bit Arsenal on the arse a few years back when they gave Walcott and Ozil absolute fortunes to renew their deals and both were already past their best. Deals like that mean you can never sell the likes of Sancho, Rashford, Sterling, Grealish etc. because there are only 3 or 4 clubs on the planet that can afford those types of wages. Even Real Madrid got stung when Hazard decided to eat his body weight in chocolate after he signed for them. The difference between us and those clubs is they have enough of a recurring revenue stream that they can just swallow the loss in the accounts. We can't (yet).
  7. They've spent £100m on two young lads in Zirkzee and Hoijlund. One bad season and they've (likely) spent another £200m on Mbuemo, Cunha and Sesko to replace them. One day the penny will drop with players going there, Chelsea, City, that they are as expendable as anyone else, and are one bad season away from being jettisoned to the arse end of nowhere on loan.
  8. Sounds like Garnacho is off to Chelsea. Which will likely give them the down payment for Sesko
  9. Watkins peaked 2 seasons ago he's 30 in 4 months. If we can get him for the same fee/wages as Wissa then he might be a goer as Wilson's replacement. If he wants £150k pw and Villa want £60m for him then it's not great business imo
  10. Botman played 25mins in his last game and hasn't been in the squad since
  11. If we poaching from the Portuguese league we need to be after this lad https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samu_Aghehowa
  12. https://x.com/ne5westend/status/1950627902820700622?s=46&t=DYmsnEqv3Z6eK81dMboqUQ Agree with this lad. Fucking bench Isak for 3 season. Swallow the £120m in lost fees.
  13. Aye, but only PSR wise because they've signed Mbuemo and Cunha. If they convince some sucker to take Sancho, Garnacho or Hoijlind, that's the first installment sorted and then the £1b revenue they make next season sorts out the rest of his transfer fee.
  14. Slimani scored plenty in Portugal too
  15. We need to let it go. One of the Man Utd directors used to work at Leipzig and is driving the deal. The easy bit is agreeing with his agent that we will pay him £150k pw. His agent will agree that with multiple clubs. The hard bit is convincing the player to sign for a club he's probably never heard of over the club he grew up watching Ronaldo and Rooney play for.
  16. He's exactly the sort of player we need to take on a season long loan if we are desperate in a couple of weeks. With PIF owned Al Ahli paying 75% of his wages.
  17. Aye, not fit for purpose, but only appeared to become our transfer strategy when a fat bald bloke joined the recruitment team...
  18. Aye, I've pretty much given up on Sesko already. Remember last month when we were all expecting a raft on continental deals to be on the go in the background. Bruno, Tonali and Isak esque players. Turns out we just put bids in for the best players at Ipswich, Brentford, Brighton, Burnley and Wolves and were shocked when other clubs were interested in them too.
  19. No chance. How do you ever live down selling your best striker in 3 decades and taking Liverpool's worst striker in return? He missed this yesterday FFS https://x.com/xGPhilosophy/status/1950539701154095220
  20. I'm not sure we can afford to sell Isak without replacing him properly. And not with a player from Brentford or Fulham. I mean someone befitting of the number 9 shirt. Which begs the question, how the fuck do you reintegrate him into the squad after this?
  21. Barton's had a stinker here https://x.com/theJeremyVine/status/1950573412122030544
  22. Can't help but feel Thiaw was at least 3rd on the list after Scalvini and Guehi.
  23. I'm not even sure we have enough senior staff to send a delegation anywhere? I assume one of them is meeting our 6th GK who has just flown in today. The other one is frantically ringing around Brentford, Leipzig and Fulham on Microsoft Teams .
