    What concerns me is that our starting line-up today consisted of 9 players who were part of last season's Championship side. Only 2 players were new signings for the Premier League season. If Shelvey had not got a red card he would have started which would have meant only 1 new player starting. Perhaps if Yedlin had been fit he may have started and that would have meant we could have started with NO new players starting. Wot the fuck. Exception would have been Lejeune had he not suffered an injury in the first game.

    That was fucking painful to watch! As a strike force, Gayle and Perez are lower division caliber who couldn't punch their way out of a wet paper bag. Benitez needs a wake-up call as to who our best players are, when and where to play them. Too many anonymous players today, visible only by their fuck-ups. This has the looks of being another long and frustrating season. Don't blame Ashley, lack of spending, etc etc, blame the under-performing shirt wearers who can't get their act together when it's curtain time. And blame the coaching staff who can't get the best out of the cast they've got to work with. I am one pissed-off dude.

    Not looking like a win for us unless the second half can show me wrong. When we have Lazaar and Haidara why is Rafa playing someone out of position at left back?

    I wonder ....................... with the early exits of Dummett & Lejeune, plus the expulsion of Shelvey, I wonder what bench players would have been called upon by Rafa had the game progressed without the injury exits I wonder if Rafa would have given Murphy a chance to get his feet wet in the Premier League.

    I expected DeJong to get some playing time but he wasn't even on the bench; is he hurt again? Manquillo looked decent, in fact in the last 15 minutes he looked very good, got forward and put some good balls in. Atsu looked good throughout the game. Last 15 minutes our 10 men played some good stuff and had their keeper work a bit. First 45 were a bit disappointing I thought, I had hoped we would have looked better than we did.

    I imagine Rafa will stay, but perhaps not much longer. He is frustrated with the transfer dealings and has not got who he wanted. He has not been able to bring in a marquee player and I think we were all expecting someone of that caliber to be brought in. We might well struggle with the new additions to the squad and the returning players, and that being so I can imagine that the January window might determine Rafa's tenure with us if he's subjected to more frustration at not getting who he wants to strengthen the team. I hope I am wrong, I hope the new signings prove to be gems, I hope the returning players change to a higher gear, and I hope we hold our own in the Premier League and it doesn't become a shamble.

    I understand Kenedy also plays at left back, and he can't be rubbish having played for Brasil's under 20's and Fluminese, and signed for Chelsea for about 6m. Sometimes signings just don't fit as we already know.

    Nice win but; didn't see the first half but thought the second half was frightening to think is this the best we can do. Wolfsburg played much better football but lacked the finishing touch. Diame should be in the shop window with a red tag sale price. Spurs are just around the corner and I'd like to have some idea as to what our starting line-up will be.

    Emailed a friend in Durham City who is a Mackem season ticket holder and asked if Manquillo was any good? Only reply I got was one word, 'NO'. Happy that new faces are coming in, but not altogether happy with the caliber.

    17 appearances for Ath. Madrid between 2011-2014. 19 appearances for Liverpool on loan. 43 appearances for Marseille on loan. 22 appearances for Blunderland on loan.

    I think we can forget about Armstrong, I doubt he'll ever be a first team player. I would think that by now he should have proved he was a Premier League player after all his loan spells.

    Sun & Mirror both rumouring that we have put a bid in for Andreas Samaris from Benfica. Amount rumoured is 17.5 mil but that Rafa will have to adjust his budget for that price. Now as I understood it Ashley said sky's the limit in as many loose-lip quotes so what's the problem. We've only spent about 18 mill on Atsu & Lejuene which isn't much for 2 players in this day and age so what budget does Rafa have to strengthen our team.
