Bubble Bobble was superb. Anyone here completed it and got the 'true' ending? It was fucking rock like, I must have wasted days of my life on that game.

Had that on the Commodore, was class.

No, no, no. I'm talking about the classic coin op Bubble Bobble, 10p a game. The 8 bit versions didn't do it justice, although I do have a perfect emulation of it on the game boy advance. Frustrating, because if I die before level 40 I have to start again. Seasoned bubble bobblers will know why.

The brother-in-law is into his games cabinets too. He has 5 that he bought for cheap of varying quality. Also has the boards or whatever for a load of games including the originals for WWF Superstars, Street Fighter 2(including all original artwork still sealed in the bag), Double Dragon, Tetris, Bubble Bobble and a Neo Geo emulator or something with Metal Slug and loads of others. I enjoy my visits to his home.

Aye, I had a ton of jamma boards a few years back. Final Fight, Double Dragon, SF2, Space Invaders etc. Tempted to buy myself R Type but they are going for £200 these days! You forget a lot of these games are 25-30 years old now!

Fire's hardware is also average for the uses it's peddling though, jack of all master of none basically, personal preference in the end though and depends what you want it for, if you want it for reading then it's lesser screen/8hour battery life compared to a proper ereader might be an issue, if you don't have a pad/smartphone and fancy something to browse the net on without having to spend a fortune on full blown tablet then Nexus7/Fire aren't bad options.

Under £100 is an excellent price for it though can't knock it for that

It's shit as you're tied into Amazon and don't have access to the likes of Google Play. Even at that price it's a false economy. As you say, if reading is the prime purpose, get an e-reader. Otherwise get something else.

I cannot believe that J69 might have made a mistake. This is unfathomable.

It's not a mistake, it's an alternative choice
