Ben Arfa

Teams like Wolves and Stoke etc will always be out to hobble the flair players.

The fact is Ben Arfa was incredibly unlucky to have two horrendous tackles inflicted upon him in two games.

Given his injury record in France, I really don't understand why people think he's an injury-prone player. Reading some of the posts it's like having Kieron Dyer back.

In all honesty I don't think he should start against Wolves because we need physical power over technical ability, which isn't Bafra's forte. The game will be a slogfest - not a skills competition.

Doesnt that depend whether we choose to make it into a slogfest? Doesnt Arsenal and the likes just go about playing their game against these teams?

I think we should just try to play decent fotball, not make it into a "war". Thats akin to bringing the play down to their level - where they would probably beat us with experience.

Hard to play fancy when players are lunging in recklessly.

It's a hard balance to find but I don't see 6"+ blokes kicking the shit out of Bafra to be a great comeback from a major injury for him and productive in getting a good result.

We've struggled against Wolves in recent seasons tbh so I'm not holding much hope out of this next game. ;)

YOHAN CABAYE has described the sight of Hatem Ben Arfa back in a black and white shirt as “simply beautiful” and feels that the French playmaker’s moments of magic can win plenty of Premier League matches for Newcastle United.

Cabaye and Co tackle Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Black Country bidding to keep their unbeaten record up after a stunning start to the season that sees United sitting pretty in fourth spot.

The midfielder though – dubbed the Dreamboat by some Toon fans – is looking forward to Ben Arfa stepping things up on Saturday at Molineux as he homes in on full fitness, and feels that his first top-flight start will be icing on the cake for United’s French Connection after a positive start for new-look Newcastle.

Cabaye, who has proved a hit in his first few games for the Magpies, told the Chronicle: “Hatem can win a lot of matches for this team, he is a match winner.

“He is a beautiful player and I hope he continues to get fitter. The quicker that is the better for Newcastle, it’s very important.”

Tiote, Cabaye and Ben Arfa playing well and in tandem with each other is the stuff dreams are made of. I get all excited like a child inside thinking about it.

We've gone backwards 25 years, they are nowt compared to Geremi, Butt and Emre.

U shuddered reading those 2 names, Emre on his day was decent, shame his day was only twice a season. In Tiote and Cabaye we have a top quality midfield pairing that cost about 7mil. You couldn't even buy half a Henderson for that.

Geremi and butt. Fucking hell. Fat Sam struggled to keep up with the modern game so he decided to employ the slowest players he could fnd to help him keep up.

Thing is, he can't avoid heavy tackles from hard midfielders in the league forever. No point in avoiding Henry on Saturday, if he wants to be a big player in the PL he's going to have to prove he isn't made of glass. We can't protect him forever.

Agree with that to an extent, but as he's not fully match fit and won't start we have the luxury of getting a feel for the way the game is going. Certainly Wolves are one of, if not the worst for dangerous physical tactics so caution has to be excercised when it's virtually a certainty that they'd look to physically impose themselves on our more talented players - like Ben Arfa.

If we keep worrying about bruiser-type players who will 'do' HBA, he'll never get a game because every side has them. I agree that Wolves are particularly bad for that sort of thing and he's not entirely fit yet, so another sub appearance, perhaps on 65-70 minutes, would be the way forward for this game. But Ben Arfa is one of the players of real quality in this side and he has to start when fully fit, whether against Tottenham/Arsenal/Wigan/other 'softer' sides, or against Stoke and Wolves.

You don't see David Silva or Luis Suarez, for example, not starting vs. those physical sides for fear that they'll get injured. They have a job to do and they have to do it against whatever opposition they face, same as HBA does.

Agree with that, however the threat (of an injury recurrance, and similar impact related injuries) with HBA is greater. Opposition outfields (with a hatchet-man) will set their radar on him, due to the fact that when fit he is the 'key man' in the final 1/3, particularly in the hole where he is more vulnerable to the attention of a loose playing defensive midfielder ie. De Jong. We have little to offer in the form of that ability, to shift the focus away from him. With the likes of Man C and Liv, the attacking threat is more widespread

Sorry but you don't buy a Ferrari to park in the garage and catch the fucking metro.
