I have to say, with the officiating in that match, I wonder why I even follow this league. What an effin' joke.

Probably my biggest turnoff to football in general- it always seems like the refs are shit (see also World Cup).

How hard is it to get people who can properly call most of a match? I realize people are human and will fuck it up from time to time, but Christ. It would have saved everyone (esp. Ben Arfa) a lot of time and heartache if the league would have just given City the 3 points and called it off since that's what was going to happen anyway.

I don't know if I've mentioned this but I know a lass who's23/24 from Horden socialises in the same circles as him. They were in the main night club in that area, and he told his bird to go home because he'd pulled some other fittie. I believe the story and what a cunt.

Cunt indeed, I'd be getting my lass rohypnolled for a threesome.

And if i was manager this is exactly what i'd have said after the match and take the fine from the cocks at the FA and let the ref know exactly what he is and that the likes of him are allowing people like De Jong to do this shit. Just come out and say next time shall we tell the ref to just give them the game from the start. we can save our energy for a game where the ref isn't a cunt and we might not have a player crippled by De Jong.

To be fair that would be awesome if a manager really said that, best manager in the world

De Jong is a thuggish cunt, he had a reputation for it even in the Bundesliga where someone like Scott Sellars would be seen as a hardman.

I don't know about anyone else but I knew straight away he'd broken his leg, you could actually hear the crack, absolute nightmare situation, our best player in years and he'll be out till at least February, I just hope we can manage without him.

I thought overall we were the better team, we were the better team against Blackpool, we were streets ahead of Wolves and even though we were shit we were better than Stoke, and that's 1 point from 12 games. That's the worry. 1 point from 12, and a further worry is I'd probably give our performance so far overall as 7/10, and we're one point off the drop zone.

Echo those sentiments. There's a touch of West Brom [in their recent relegation seasons] about us at the moment. We're gaining a solid foothold in the engineroom/midfeld, and playing some good passing football [on the deck] as opposed to the football on display under Kinnear & Shearer and a few of their predecessors, Keegan not included. But ultimately we're short on quality & depth in key areas [these have already been extensively discussed] and it's costing us in the form of lost points.

All said and done points dropped in this match were largely down to the officiating. In the Blackpool game we didn't make the most of the chances we created. In the Wolves game we were shaken up by their physicality which was poorly dealt with by the officials. There's some good signs in terms of our movement and midfield, however I'm worried that if we go a lengthy period without a result then we could struggle to recover.

This may end up like a Sima-esque comment and I know he has only played a few games but Tiote looks pretty special so far.

A lot of people were coming away from the game on Sunday already proclaiming him our best player. I'm not ready to go along with that yet but so far he's looking a bargin and just the sort of midfielder we've been after for years.

Tiote's exactly the sort of player we need in our situation. He's not top 6 but he could be the difference in a relegation scrap.

Early days but he looks like he can play a bit and isn't just a 'destroyer' type of player.

He's been caught on the ball a few times but that's it. It's a real pleasure to watch a competent central midfielder who is calm, makes the correct choices, can distribute the ball consistently well throughout midfield and is a decent athlete. This is because so many of the players we've had in central midfield in recent times have been either completely incompetent or had major flaws in their game which affect the team's performances in a negative fashion. Tiote could clearly play a part in a very good squad, and has done so already in his career in the Dutch league.

United Call For FA Action Over Ben Arfa Injury

Newcastle United FC have today written a strongly-worded letter to the Football Association in relation to the tackle by Manchester City's Nigel de Jong on Hatem Ben Arfa in Sunday's Premier League fixture, which resulted in Ben Arfa sustaining a broken tibia and fibula of his left leg.

The club has asked the FA for the appropriate action to be taken against De Jong for the tackle which in the club's opinion was unnecessary and used excessive force.

Newcastle United will also be writing to the appropriate body regarding the performance of the match officials, specifically the referee, in relation to a number of incidents during the game including the tackle on Ben Arfa.

It'll be interesting to see what they say about the other decisions too.

I love how nufc.com are complaining about the tackle then go on to say something about getting one of our players to put Zoggy into Row Z the next game.

I stopped reading .com ages ago, used to check it religiously everyday but went wildly down hill

Funnily enough, I was thinking more or less the same when I read HM's post. I can hardly remember the last time I looked at .com other than to occasionally check for either a fixture or a stat.
