"There's nothing I can do to stop them protesting and I don't intend to, but all I do hope is that they give the team the chance to win the game and that the protest comes quickly and goes as quickly and hopefully we take the lead and we can see the game out."

How typical is that of his management by the way. Hopefully we get a quick goal and can see it out. Not hopefully we can get a quick goal and kick on from there and get a few more. We've had it said about us many times that we would rather lose 4-3 than win 1-0 and his whole tactical outlook seems to be built on trying to get us the latter. I'd be content with winning 1-0 every week but there is simply no way that it's sustainable long term to just try and defend from the point that you take the lead. Especially with a defence like ours!

Yep after a run like that it really is hard to believe some people are upset!

We have tried giving the team support for a very long time, never seems like it makes any difference under Pardew. If the team plays well it's mostly do to a magnificent individual performance, following with the player getting sold next window. Pardew is just building a nest for what his next 100 excuses is going to be about.

What I think Ashley wants, is us to come to the final point of frustration where we are willing to pay Pardew out of his contract.

Alan Pardew;

“Well I think you are fighting for your job in terms of your record at the back end of last season and the record at the start of this season.

“But we have got a different squad this year, I think one or two, like all players in Premier League, are finding the adjustment tough.

“Some can take straight to it and I remember Yohan Cabaye, that year we brought in three or four others in with him and we hit the ground running. Everybody was surprised that happened.

“We have to put all that behind us, all the excuses, and get this magnificent football club a win.

“Well it has not been an easy week because after the events at Southampton, as manager you have to reflect and the performance really upset me.

“Going back to my old club, it wasn’t a performance I was proud of in any shape or form.

“We have spoken to the group about it. We have some new players, I’m not going to offer any excuses.

“We need to show a better spirit if we go behind in games as a group, than we did in that game.

“In the season you get games where it gets away from you completely, it happens to some top teams.

“Last season Arsenal had two or three times when they got well beaten five and six and it happens in a Premier League season when it just doesn’t work.

“It is bad timing for us because of the start we have had, we didn’t get the win we needed before then.

“So it puts added pressure on us, particularly myself, I’m fully aware of that"
