Aye but you wade in accusing people of changing their tune on here to try and look cool, and it's bollocks. Everyone on here last night was going "wow this is amazing" and then cringed when McCartney came on.

Your assessment is that people were trying to look cool by saying he was shit then changed their tune. Total bollocks. You have this thing about people trying to look cool.

I suppose the middle aged lass on the checkout in Sainsburys was trying to be cool when she asked me if I'd seen how awful McCartney was last night?

Ewerk and LBT were both slating it at first. As we're lots of people on twitter/facebook. I talk about being cool a lot because It seems the in thing these days is to be cutting and witty about just about everything. Not just on here but in the papers, on the radio, on the tv

I slated it straight away because he crashed his cue and then delivered a poor performance. I said that everything else about the ceremony was superb. How's that trying to be cool?

Were we hearing the difference between what his monitors played back to him and what was being broadcast right at the start?...or was it his erm "backing track" he himself couldnt get the timing right with?...so if he was being helped out, it was out of kilter so much the BBC killed the taped feed and he then plainly struggled with the rest of the song.

Its irrelevnt in the face of what came before anyway. The song was there for everyone to sing along to regardless of how Macca delivered it, which they did. Its a great song, which is why its still sung by us 42 years after it was released.

Aye.

Anyway, I put the beach volleyball on and imagine the disappointment when it was MEN playing. Why is that even allowed.

Thats a shocker!

There was some class acts carrying the flags, always good when theres a billion pairs of eyes watching who represents the best of what each nation has to offer. The Brazilian lass was stunning, imagine my diasappointment (and Mrs PL's laughter) when seconds after I'd complimented the young lady's "pole gripping skills" it was pointed out that she was a fuckin fencer! :(

Sharapova blew them all away though, shes unbeleiveably beuatiful.

The lack of time splits in that race was an absolute shambles. The fucking Olympics and they're letting us know every now and again what's actually going on in the race. The commentators basically saying "sorry about this, but we're not being given any information".

Why is there one girl from each side with a different colour shirt?...

Whats the general thought on tall, skinny birds?....this lot look a bit freaky all togther, like a mutant race of Peter Crouch's ex girlfirends....

This analysis of opinion of a tv show is funny like . It's like a circle in a spiral. Like a wheel within a wheel. Never ending or beginning. On an ever spinning reel. Like a snowball down a mountain. Or a carnival balloon.

Like a carousel that's turning. Running rings around the moon.

Like a clock whose hands are sweeping. Past the minutes of it's face. And the world is like an apple. Whirling silently in space.

Like the circles that you find In the windmills of your m¡nd ¿

Like a tunnel that you follow. To a tunnel of it's own. Down a hollow to a cavern. Where the sun has never shone. Like a door that keeps revolving. In a half forgotten dream. Or the ripples from a pebble Someone tosses in a stream

Like a clock whose hands are sweeping ....

Keys that jingle in your pocket. Words that jangle in your head.

Why did summer go so quickly ? Was it something that you said ?

Lovers walk along a shore And leave their footprints in the sand

Is the sound of distant drumming just the fingers of your hand ? Pictures hanging in a hallway. And the fragment of this song. Half remembered names and faces. But to whom do they belong ?

Who gives a fuck . Not that I feel any need to explain myself but I was reacting to Dizzy Rascal and his 'an ting' shit on the 3d channel with Colin Jackson not doing the commentary particularly well alongside . Everyone's different - as Im sure you appreciate .

I thought this was a football forum anyway , which by it's nature, I'd expect to find irreverent cracks . It's just words on a screen etc. I wouldn't take it, or yourself too seriously tbh .

But, let's be serious for a little here .

As for the 'cool' bit - some may say you're 'being cool' with your avatar ? What is 'cool' anyway ? Most on here I bet haven't, nor never will meet each other, so why would anyone care one way or the other ? It's just an interface for spouting a bit of shit and passing a bit time at the end of the day man . Escapism I guess ? Plenty other outlets if you're after 'serious discussions' without anyone 'being cool' . YOU SQUAREBEAR OF UNCOOL .

Dont worry MT, here is the party line....

That member of the team is THE "LIBERO" PLAYER

Each team has the option to register one specialised defensive player, "Libero" among the final list of 12 players for the whole tournament.

The specific rules for a Libero player are as follows:

A) He/she is restricted to performing as a back row player and has no right at all to complete an attack hit when the ball is above the height of the top of the net.

B) The Libero may not serve, block or attempt to block.

C) The Libero must wear a different colour shirt from the other members of the team.

D) Substitutions involving a Libero are not counted as regular and their number is unlimited. A Libero cannot take part in normal substitutions and may only enter or leave the game while the ball is out of play and before the whistle for service.

E) It is necessary to have a rally between replacement of two different players involving a Libero. With the previous approval of the first referee, an injured Libero may be substituted during the match by any registered player within the normal line-up list of the score sheet.

G) The designated replacement of a Libero will be limited to performing as a Libero for the rest of the match and the subsequent matches. Nevertheless, this player will be allowed to be registered again in the normal line-up of later matches once the initially registered Libero is officially re-instituted.

H) No other player will be authorised to perform as a Libero and in the case of further injury of the originally registerd Libero, he/she will be replaced by the same player under the same conditions as stated in previous points.

you are right about one thing, we are all entitled to opinions. I enjoyed it start to finish. Not sure what McCartney did wrong. He would have been called worse if he turned the gig down.

Nah I agree :) Macca was canny I thought . The unity of the singalong etc. worked in.the context of the people-orientated theme that the show emitted I thought.

I'm as cynical as they come I know , I probably piss myself off as much as others with it mostly !

But as has been said - it's just nice to have a break from the weight of 'the current climate' and have something to get behind .

I think the issue for a lot of people with Macca was the fuck up at the beginning, then the average performance. I don't think people are saying that he isn't cool, just that it was a bad performance.
