What's your point? What is by all accounts, the crown jewel of Britain's tech industry is about to be peddled to Japan. In direct contravention of May's pledge.

1. Pointing out that the buyer has said Brexit made no difference.

2. Pointing out that May couldn't block it as laws don't exist yet.

1. Taking everything that PR wankstains say at face value

2. Taking everything that politicians say at face value

3. Why would you really, and pretty much unquestionably, want to do that?

May spoke with SoftBank Chairman Masayoshi Son on Sunday and welcomed the investment, the prime minister’s spokeswoman Helen Bower told reporters Monday.

“It’s very much in the national interest,” Bower said.

SoftBank pledged to keep the company’s headquarters in Cambridge and to at least double employee headcount in the U.K. in the next five years.

Also

By moving quickly, SoftBank was able to get in ahead of any change in U.K. takeover rules -- should May be inclined to eye future deals more critically.

Thats all it is though, a pledge. No guarantees although the Japanese tend to be more concerned about these sort of things.

ARM have a solid Buy / Outperform recommendation on their stock, they have that because they are a growth company. They will be doubling their headcount anyway, not because the Japanese will somehow magic them into a faster growing company. They (ARM) were a target for a long time, so its fair to say that this deal is not caused by Brexit but it was probably accelerated by the circumstances.

The stock has been flat for over a year, had some small gains since end of June but that increase in price for the Japanese has been more than offset by the currency fluctuation. So the deal has looked better, hence they made the move.

This stupid cunt voted for Brexit because he wanted to make Britain great again. A week later and he's advocating selling off one of its only successful tech companies because a couple of Tory cunts tell him it's a good idea. He's unreal. [emoji38]

Of course he doesn't really have an opinion on any of this shit, he just knows that if he sides with the cunts in power it'll get a rise out of people on here while he's sat in a lay by watching youporn.

 More project Bullshit

1. I've never advocated the sale.

2. I've corrected Gloom and pointed out the seller and buyer both say the sale is not due to Brexit.

3. I've corrected you and Gloom that currently the government is unable to block this sale.

4. I haven't sided with anybody.

5. I thought you remainers liked FACTS.

If you are so inadequate that you "rise" when faced with unbiased facts, that says more about you than me.

Trot on :)

We aren't going to get far with foreign businesses buying up our tech industries, mind...

Not taking sides in this argument since I know nothing about it, but Hammond can get to fuck claiming this is positive. A harbinger of things to come, I reckon.

Me neither. No idea if it's good for the company itself or not.

May has already come out and said she'd block a deal like this as PM. What you saying? She's a bullshit artist?

She said she would put in place laws to try and stop some companies being sold. Those laws have not been passed yet.

As the company is staying put and getting massive investment, she may have concluded its in the company's interest.

I have no idea if she's a bull shit artist.
