I was just saying to the wife how burdensome these 750ml wine bottles were just the other day. I'm sure bottle manufacturers will retrospectively alter their production plants to accommodate it and the vintners will be happy paying to alter their bottling lines. And of course Mr and Mrs UK will be dying to buy a smaller sized bottle for what would probably be roughly the same cost. Excellent work, Tories!

In America standard for a bottle of spirits is, iirc, 750mls. Here / the EU it’s 700mls. But the bottles are the same size. You just get two shots less in the ones here. It would be funny as fuck if they just did the same, obviously much more noticeably in the case of it only containing a pint of wine. The other thing it’s only going to apply to British wine-makers  English wine is actually very good. But it’s low yield and expensive due to the conditions here. It makes up less than 1% of the UK market. Despite it being low yield they can’t even sell all the stuff they produce. Because it’s not well known so why would your average punter pay £20+ for a bottle of Chapel Down sparkling wine when they can get supermarket champagne cheaper?
So, all in all, it’s not really something the DBT should be crowing about

Apparently he lost his blob because Vorderman and the ex-Marine / Labour candidate who is going to beat him at the next election questioned his record. He said earlier this year that he would eradicate involuntary veteran homelessness. It’s gone up 14%. His response to being called out was to say the bloke had served 5mins (actually 7 years and became a captain in that time).

Mercer is held up as some kind of "decent" tory because he backs "our boys".

What this really means is a carte blanche to commit war crimes followed by abandonment to PTSD and homelessness.

He's just another cunt.
