Â I remember 1986 onwards and there have been some fantastic players. We've had loads including Waddle, Gazza, Shearer, Beardsley, Robson and more recently Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard. I think it's the fact the last two were such good players that make their international careers so average by comparison. You could say the same about Rooney. International careers are defined by the finals of major tournaments. Even more so now qualification is much easier than in the past.
