Not sure why you are so keen for Gordon to make the squad.

He needs a holiday and you know if he was in the squad he'd either sit on the bench for all but 5 minutes in some dead rubber group game and/or be knackered for the season by some league 2 level defender playing for Latvia in said game.

Their problem is that the players that will give them the profit they need are the homegrown lads (Gallagher, Reece James, etc), who are all young and ambitious. They're not about to throw their careers away by going to Saudi.
