I have no idea what sort of fettle he’s likely to be in after two(?) seasons of bullshit in West London but I always through Dewsbury Hall was a decent player as well as a Tudor mansion in Shropshire :cuppa:

Left footed as well which we don’t have in midfield.

Dont think we should be selling longstaff if we don’t have to, just going off my impressions he seems like a really good squad member and happy to play a bit part. Home grown which we may need for squad registration purposes depending on what Eddie wants to do with the kids.

No idea what the money situation is or the appetite for risk regarding transfers though

I don’t think he would be happy at being an odd sub. He’s a honest lad, the type I think just wants to play football and that’s why I think he hasn’t signed an extension.

His original deal ran out this summer, he signed a one year extension, I suspect so we can get a fee for him.

Maybe right mate, but he must realise we as a club (his club) are on the up. And he isn’t going to be a starter ahead of the lads playing now.

Maybe it’s me putting myself in his position, I would rather be a squad player who is well liked at Newcastle than a regular starter for a Moyes Everton for example.

I know exactly what you’re saying. If he were to spend the rest of his career as a substitute then I’d had no problem with that as he always gives 100% on the pitch despite his obvious limitations.

The feeling I get from him though and the way he has spoken previously is that he wants to play football and fair play to him for that.
