This is from yesterday, I think, and I don't know much about this Ben Jacobs lad.

Liverpool have played us like a fiddle here though, if it's right. Unsettle the player, hope he does what he's done, then come back a week later and go "... So NOW is he for sale, lads?"

No doubt his agent has been a willing part of the choreography, and whether Isak has been duped into it or his playing his role willingly, who knows.

Anyway, if the above is to be believed, IF a bid comes in, it'll be because we've given them the green light.

I sort of want us to get shot so we can move on, but at the same time I'd take some satisfaction from us releasing a public statement to say that despite Liverpool's work to unsettle the player, our original position stands, and they can fuck off til summer 2026.

aye, fucking forest managed it with MGW. i'd love yasser to do a press conference with isak beside him confirming his new contract. that would shut up romano, sky, talksport and all the other cartel cunts

I can't help thinking this is all mind games from Liverpool to unsettle Issak. I mean Shirley they've haven't the funds to even put a bid in for him. 8i suspect Liverpool & the rest of the Premiership teams are shitting themselves at the thought of out "Triple A" attacking formation. Get the lads home next week get Issak back in training with them. Get back on course for our first game against Villa in 19 days

I suspect that’s wishful thinking. We may not accept their offer but the player is pushing for a move. And if they flog Diaz and Nunez they may well have enough, thanks to the bullshit PSR rules designed to protect them. Remember that they didn’t spend anything last summer.

Our only hope of keeping home rests on us rejecting Liverpool’s offer and offering Isak the sort of wage structure-shattering wedge he’s looking for (and has arguably earned).

And even then much will depend on the player - they hold all the power these days. if Liverpool offer £150m or thereabouts and the player wants to go it’s probably in everyone’s interests to let him leave, assuming we’re able to replace him with a player of sekso’s ability first. I don’t want to keep Isak if he doesn’t want to play for us.

I don't think we can offer him a new deal at the end of this. It rewards him for being a cunt and sets the blueprint for any future players that don't like their current contract.

If he stays, it will surely be on his current deal, and in the full knowledge that he's away next year.

I'd imagine Howe & his staff will have regular updates about this "slight thigh injury" Also i read the other day that the head of PIF has said Issak's not for sale as he's his favourite player.

I don’t know about that. He’s kind of an outlier. Arguably the hottest striker in Europe. The champions want him. He clearly can command a higher wedge. Not every player looking for a new deal would have that leverage

The new management structure coming in is an ideal time for a relationship reset, especially if broken promises form part of his issue. I agree it's unlikely but if there was any realistic single event that would turn this around at this point, it's that.

He doesn't have a get out clause in his contract .That's piss poor on his agents' side. Yasir in town apparently. I'd like to be a fly on the wall if they're summoned to a meeting with him :cuppa: 🪚

I'm with Gemmill. He's acted a cunt tbh he can shove a new deal up his arse. He can fuck off next summer even if we do lose our on an extra 20-30m so be it. Imo he can fucking rot with the stiffs if it needs be. But he won't do that as no cunt will want him.

Fuck off Alex tbh. I am really disappointed how this played out tbh. I thought he and us were better than this.

But I think that even if it does cost us money the club needs to stamp its foot. Clubs and players have made us look inept and humiliated us. It’s the worst outcome after our best season in decades but we have to prove not to get hold to ransom both as a buying as well as selling club.

He's obviously been tapped up behind the scenes by Liverpool. It's win/win from their point of view because either he joins them, or we have a player who has mentally left and won't perform heading into the season. For that reason alone I would like the chairman to come out and say that Liverpool and their media cronies have acted like cunts and under no circumstances will we sell Isak to them.

I don't know how this is going to play out but we'll probably cave in and give Liverpool what they want. Then we'll end up with a bargain bin striker and half a squad, a pissed off manager and demotivated players heading into the new season. So Liverpool get stronger and we get fucked over, it's fucking disgraceful

from club.

Whatever happens now this close season has been a disaster. The so-called big 6 have picked off every player we've been interested in and our star striker is on strike. I blame Eales and Mitchell for this mess and I can see why Mitchell legged it, he obviously knew what was brewing with Isak and it sounds like he was responsible.

I want us to offer Isak a new contract if it works for us. Every possibility should be kept open to maximise the potential benefit to us. I agree with Gloomy (as per usual he's the voice of reason): Isak is an outlier and his situation (like every situation tbh) is unique. I don't see it setting any sort of precedent here or elsewhere. At least not necessarily as some sort of logic puzzle solution to "do X" because "Isak did Y". It's not that black and white. Not offering him a contract could lead to him refusing to play, playing poorly for innumerable reasons, lower squad morale overall if certain players agree with him that he was promised a new contract, etc., etc., etc. There's so many possibilities. Just saying, we should "do X" to set an example isn't really a reasonable response to the situation. Like the desire to give a "offer us X by Friday, grrrrrrr, we're in charge" ultimatum, refusing him a contract point blank could (and likely would) blow up in our faces completely. It's as if nobody has ever dealt with a cornered animal before. If we leave Isak or Liverpool with no option but to fight us, then that's what they'll likely do. And we will probably lose because they have money and the media on their side. Part of becoming a big club is making the right decision here, playing it cool, and not going off half-cocked because "we won't be pushed around". Cool heads prevail here imo.

Edit: I should also say that I want the chairman to say, "Isak is not for sale". Kitman is spot on. That's the right approach. Simple, direct. Done. Whether it's true or a piece of rhetoric? Well, that's for Liverpool to figure out with the help of their bank account. Their ploy to "not offer until they know we're willing to sell" is a negotiating tactic. Let them find out the hard way what "not for sale" really means in pounds stirling.

Nothing I said goes against the ethos of the team/club. In fact, everything I said was in the interest of maintaining it. Even more so, everything I said was explicitly framed as in the interests of doing what's best for the club. Honestly, if, and only if, this were an isolated response, I'd struggle to fathom how you could misinterpret what I said so badly.

But, then again, you clearly have your finger on the pulse, so maybe I should reconsider. I mean, you made a prediction that Liverpool would get Isak for 20m less than they've already touted to the media that they're willing to bid, as an opening bid, if negotiations are opened up.

Do you mind if I add your general support of Gemmill's position to the list of reasons why he should reconsider his stance? Thanks for your input.

Mate you have evidently invested a lot of time trying to think about this situation (Badly). Fair play to you.

Just have a go at what the person said rather than the person

added a few or those  face things to keep you happy
