We're also not American, we are not yet that debased. Farage is demonstrably aligned with Trump and Putin, two figures hated here. In the US they liked the Apprentice and half don't even know who Putin is. Farage is on record as saying he wants shot of the most treasured institution in the UK, the NHS. I think it suited Labour to let Reform eat the Tories last election, but it won't next one when the gloves are off. It's a long, long way away. Anything could happen, most likely Reform won't be able to keep any semblance of professionalism iyam.

Tbh, that's almost certainly better than what we'll end up with.

Mate, they’re blatant and obvious manipulative snake oil salesmen. They’re telling enough people precisely what they want to hear though. That’s what Trump knew and did. We’re not immune because we’re British.
-
It's mental because the schools don't have enough staff as it is, but they're laying permanent staff off and replacing them with supply teachers and newly qualifieds (who will probably leave teaching within 5 years anyway because it's such a broken profession) cos it's cheaper. It's such a fucking mess. The schools obviously don't want to do it, but they're in an impossible position because their budgets are fixed and the govt is telling them to magic up pay rises from an unchanging total. It's criminal.

There's only one City, all others are just pale imitations

I watched Tice on QT last night, the first time I'd watched it in yonks. Honestly, I think he is completely out of tune with the large majority of the public. His climate change denial went down like a bucket of sick, and this was in Hull iirc. People are idiots, yes, but no way will they be prepared to let the NHS go. That's what Labour need to attack them on, there's plenty of ammo. I honestly don't see them as the threat people think they are. One trick pony and even that trick, Farage, is disliked or hated by most. Those MRP results will never materialise imo. But aye, never been more despondent with Labour or politics otherwise. Like a Newcastle team under Bruce, I want to believe but every bit of evidence I see tells me not to.

I think this is just the norm now tbh. This is just the standard operating procedure for the “uniparty”. They are in hock to global system that is about to be changed forever by Trumpism. A Reform dominated coalition with what’s left of the tories will see the likes of Palantir being presented with all relevant data they require to subjugate our entire population. National Insurance will be abolished but our taxation level will remain the same and we’ll have to find private health cover. This is what Farage and Tice have been trailing since the local government elections last week.

Not wanting DCL but wanting Evan Ferguson, a bloke who has had one good game against us and then two years of looking like a total donkey is out of this world

This is exactly what has happened at the bairn’s school. His dad is a teacher there (also 25yrs) and they’re “restructuring” meaning they they’re looking for redundancies and demoting people from leadership roles without discussion or explanation. Unions are now involved. It also happened earlier in the year at another local Catholic secondary. It’s an absolute shambles.

Jealous 😩 When I win the lottery I’m just going to follow England Cricket around the world. And demand to work as Jimmy Anderson’s unpaid PA 🥰

As an aside from my normal political views, this is a non-partisan view I have as well. Long term planning would absolutely make this country a better place. Every time someone mentions it I'm reminded of fucking Sunak when he was chancellor, claiming that he couldn't contribute 15bn to help kids catch up on lost learning time following Covid, despite being told that the long term cost to the nation of this loss to these kids would be 300bn or so. It's a prime example of this short termist nonsense that damages us constantly. We absolutely do need a better class of politician.

Everyone is a career politician these days. They gear themselves up to attain power by demonstrating how bad the incumbent is and once they're in power, the focus shifts to do concentrate on retaining power - not by using their position to enact real, positive change, but to issue diatribes against the alternative. They all do it, as well. Long-term vision appears to be a ideal of the past.

DCL would be a right throwback to the Shefki Kuqi and Sibierski days and he'd have less impact than them. If we can't get someone in the Delap category than hopefully a Mitchell European prospect who can backup Isak, no idea who though given our budget constraints.
