If you’re still on Twitter I think the only way to combat the likes of her, Fox, Morgan and all the attention seekers is to block them. Engagement of any sort is all they’re after

Hope you get back on track soon. It sounded like you were making good progress before that

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER

The round up was on a Saturday morning and the live matches were on a Sunday afternoon -
There’s a good doc the beeb did called Boys from Brazil which I think only went up to ‘86 due to when it was made. It’s narrated by Motson who makes the point that the misses in 1970 were better than some of their goals. Particularly the shot from the halfway line and the fucking outrageous dummy on the keeper v Uruguay. My dad loved Cruyff and George Best and thinks Messi is a genius but Pele has no equal in his eyes

Best ever imo. Certainly shades Maradona for the best player of the twentieth century. I think those two were at a different level to the competition. A bit like Messi / Ronaldo in this era

As fans we’re sentimental as we have an emotional attachment to the club (obviously) but also to players. Even to the extent you can love someone limited in ability who runs round giving his all. But it’s different for those running the club, managing / coaching the players. The best managers have a great rapport and relationship with their players but they also need to be brutal about replacing players who’ve dove a job for them. Shelvey absolutely fits that criteria. Keegan was like that and I fully expect Howe to be the same. Also Shelvey has sone fantastic attributes and has knuckled down too, like Gloom says. But I would say even if everyone was fit and available, even before any new additions, we’re probably a better team without him in the starting XI

She’s an actual Nazi

They’ll buy him out of his contract to free up a squad place I reckon. But aye, another Ashley ‘legacy’

Pretty sure UM reckoned Matty was the better player too

JRM would be the ultimate symbol of this era of conservatives. Thick as mince, corrupt as fuck, talentless, has had everything handed to him on a plate and constantly lies through his teeth. All the while believing his own hype, thinking his education has equipped him with the tools to talk his way out of anything. He’d be as bad as Truss and if it got to the members he’d be right up their street

Arsenal probably the most embarrassing fan base in the whole division. Such a huge amount of entitled clueless cunts amongst their ranks

Another grifter then?

Which one was he?

You have to twist a bit when you get promoted, otherwise why bother? But, in retrospect, signing the amount of players they have seems absolutely crackers.

Should get himself on RTG. They love getting annoyed at stuff they’ve just made up too

Always rated Robbie Elliot like. Did alright in his second spell too despite not being the player he was after all the injuries

They wanted to see us play on Prime, obvs

I know going back to my granddad’s generation that it was fairly common to be a Newcastle fan but attend games at Roker Park. Makes sense given not many people had the means or the time to go to away games. And what other chance would you have of seeing someone like Stanley Matthews or Nat Lofthouse other than once a season at SJP? And the Bobby Robson quote about what is a club… makes no sense in relation to SAFC.

So fuck even if it was true about Milburn? It isn’t but all it would mean is a Sunderland fan scored more than 200 goals for us and was instrumental in winning 3 FA Cups. That’s them getting one up on us? even the daft fantasies they dream up are fucking shite.

The plus side is though that those who’ve done well will get more opportunities as we compete on more fronts. The change in the subs rules has made it more of a squad game than ever too. That bench wasn’t great yesterday either.
