hey man, if it works for you, fair play. Like I say, I know people who swear by it and if it stops you piling on unnecessary calories in the evening in front of the telly because you’re in a fasting window maybe it is the right fit for you. The evening snacking you describe absolutely does destroy results. My breakthrough came, after many years of trying different things, when I forced myself to stop snacking because I was bored and only eat when I’m hungry - listen to your body, in other words. It does take discipline and consistency. I’m not saying don’t ever eat those foods btw. I could eat crisps every day but I hold them back for the weekend. Same goes for malteasers - my favourite junk food - which I reserve as a Friday night treat alongside a glass of scotch.

I put on a bit of weight in my 20s. It’s what kicked me into gear to get in shape in the first place. My weight would yo-yo for a few years until I figured it out. I tried everything - Atkins, fasting, weight training, cardio, HIIT, spinning - the lot. The truth is you don’t have to be a gym rat to get in shape. It helps and I love resistance training but for someone like CT it really is as simple as calories in v calories out. Portion control, sensible food choices (for the majority of the time) + consistency = results

so sorry mate. i didn't mean to be insensitive. losing your child is the worst thing that could happen to anyone. it happened to my best friend last year and i saw it up close. it's a life-breaker.

i pissed about with fasting when it was fashionable a few years back - not for me but plenty of people swear by it so if it works for you, why not? i would say the same about keto, atkins and all the other fads out there. long term results come through understanding the basic laws of thermodynamics and implementing eating habits and exercise that you can maintain without hating your life. my diet consists of around 80% home-cooked, whole foods. i don't completely demonise processed foods and i allow myself to eat out and enjoy the odd treat at the weekend. consistency is key. fad diets rarely work long-term.

horrible news that TP, condolences mate. an old mate of mine from back home died of a brain aneurism in his 20s. so shocking and so out of the blue - he was young, fit and healthy with a whole life to live ahead of him. i'll never forget his mother on the day of the funeral. you can't imagine the grief

it's a long old day to be sat out in 13 degree weather. 10am-10pm! it was also obvious pretty early in somerset's innings that gloucestershire were going to win so we fucked off early to the sanctuary of the boozer

i watched the t20 finals day at edgbaston in mid september last year - it was so cold we ended up leaving before the end

pope does the stuff he's paid to do - shot stopping and coming for crosses - as well as any keeper i've ever seen play for us. he's also good at sweeping up behind the back four. the less said about his playing out from the back, the better. but i hope he'll be better with botman and thiaw in front of him. just play an easy ball to one of them and let them start to build the attack

scorer of great goals rather than a great goal scorer (apparently)

you only have to look at how well the players Man U have moved on have gone on to do. Makes sesko and mbuemo’s decisions all the more bizarre. I’m convinced we finish above them again

ekitike would have been class for us. Perfect replacement for Isak
-
i dunno for sure but we made bids for the likes of pedro, ekitke, sekso etc which all played out in public first. i think it was another opportunistic signing and we swooped after we exhausted our other options and it became clear bayern weren't going to pay the asking price.

gemmill and his +1 on their way to the posh seats

I don’t think we sign big Nick if isak stays. The plan was to get Jao Pedro, Delap or ekitike in to replace Wilson and rotate with then eventually replace Isak. That all changed after Isak downed tools and we were forced to work down our list of targets. Big Nick was fairly low down that list - but he could prove to be a better signing than the likes of sesko. He’s started better. It’s going to take a while to get used to playing with a completely different type of striker but the early signs are positive. I love his confidences. He just needs to get in the box more. The signs were much better on that score against Forest.

i was about about to post something similar. He’ll be itching to get his career going for us and won’t want to miss more CL games, assuming we’re still in it then. It’s what he joined the club for and there’s no guarantee we qualify again next season

I’m not saying you like wham, musicals and romcoms 😂 I just remember you recommending a couple of series which I tried and didn’t enjoy

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER
Dr Gloom replied to Sonatine's topic in Newcastle Forum
just listened to romesh ranganathan's new podcast where redknapp jnr tells him about the salmon sperm injections he's had injected into his skin. i didn't have that one on my bingo card -
i just started it last night based on your recommendations. not sure why exactly as i don't recall having similar tastes to either of you but i was looking for something new - enjoyed the first episode. jk simmons is always worth watching. looks like it was cancelled after a couple of seasons though so no idea if they wrap things up, or leave it open

That’s where I come in

It would be fitting if it coincided with a wor flags display

RIP Willie. The club absolutely has to arrange a minute silence.

pardew's team was the best of the ashley era - cabaye, colo, ben arfa, nolan, jonas, enrique, ba, cisse etc
