Except our owner is actually quite stingy with wages these days. Or that's the impression we get
-
Sure sure, I bet that's what you told the police too

For an extra $15 a month on top of my Foxtel (Aust version of Sky) I get the Australian version of Setanta which has 2 live and 1 replayed SPL match each week. They also broadcast live J-League and previously Russian PL matches in the European off season; live Bundesliga, Seria A and highlights programs for Ligue 1 and Eredivisie. btw Kitman, unlike you guys in NZ we get every match shown here, so if you want give me a hoy and I can flick you copies of matches you don't get, throughout the season. Cool thanks mate. Let's hope they're worth watching eh!

If Murray can hold his nerve against Nadal he'll never have a better chance to win it. Expect heroic failure in 5 sets then. If he wins he'll still be a miserable bastard mind you.

Couldn't give a shit what Poyet thinks. In fact he deserves some pay back for the goals he used to score against us, the ugly bastard

I see it as a small risk. With him being English and only 18 as a flop we will get £5mill back but if he has a good season and with Champions League bringing in all these home nations rules we might struggle to turn a stupid offer down over the next 2 seasons So Average = SAFC player Flop = 3 mill loss (assuming 8 mill fee plus add ons) Top player = sell to CL club Fucking depressing isn't it? I'm not claiming we're any different btw. I'd be amazed if Tiote and Ben Arfa aren't gone in a season or so, adn they're not even English.

I'm not getting in to this 'our club is bigger than your club' nonsense. Celtic is a great old club known worldwide. You can even get Celtic tops here in NZ (as well as toon tops). However there's virtually no coverage of the SPL here that I can recall. They show all the English premier league games (live and full re-runs) here on Sky (but not the Setanta games annoyingly), there are endless highlights of both EPL and Division 1 games and there are shows like ESPN that cover the premiership goings on. Nothing on the SPL that I know of unless there's some kind of special subscription channel. Don't know if it's the same in Australia but I'd guess it's a similar story most places. NZ is rugby crazy and a footballing backwater but how the SPL is perceived and that's what Celtic (and Rangers) suffer from imo. Famous clubs with a big worldwide support but not a lot of interest in what happens in the SPL. Even the atttraction of the old firm derbies is diminished because taking league and cup games together they see to play each other at least 4 or 5 times a season.

That's probably right actually

Bit of a diver apparently

My impression was Pardew was planning someone to lead the line with Ben Arfa playing off him (Ben Arfa is a sort of Beardsley role presumably). You'd have thought that would mean either someone very mobile or a target man. Don't know much about Ba but he doesn't strike me as either of those things. Suggests Ba would play as a support striker, impact sub or main striker if the target man was injured. If all of the above isn't galloping bullshit, it wouldn't surprise me if we were in for someone like Crouch.

not at all I was suggesting we put the lot in one thread not just the twitter shizzle
-
Excellent idea, Should be a mod Kitman. I'm a free spirit man you can't tie me to the system
-
How about we just have one transfer rumours thread that covers twitter, tabloids, inter webs etc. If people post rumours in other threads then the mods delete them. If you find the rumours tiresome you can just avoid that thread.

I'm not sure I agree. We needed a good striker so Ba fits the bill. We needed a good left footed winger (Jonas is right footed) so Marveaux fits the bill. If we assume HBA is primarily a support striker, we needed a good midfielder with Nolan going so Cabaye fits the bill. So you can argue these players have been signed for positions we do need. So I'm pretty happy with that tbh - they could be shit for us but you take that risk with any player, just look at Juan Sebastian Veron. That's not saying that these signings are enough. We need more, especially imo a proven striker and a top CB, plus possibly a RB (and that's assuming Jonas, Enrique, Barton and Collo stay). But I don't think it's fair to judge whether we've plugged the gaps that need filling until the transfer window shuts. As far as signing them cos they're cheap's concerned, I'm sure you're right. It's good business if they turn out to be good players for us (Ba already looks a top player though) but could be a waste of money (see Perch). imo the issue with Ba and Marveaux is the injury position and it won't be a bargain if they're always injured a la Carr and Babayaro. If we don't get in a proven striker, I think you'll have a point. Generally that costs a fortune - look at this Wickham guy, a fee of something like 12 mill for a guy that's young and never played top level footy. For me we really need to stick our hands in our pockets and get someone like Sturridge that we know can do the job.

I know how they feel. At the moment the "debate" about finances seems to dominate everywhere and in a slow news climate it's a mission to find much to engage or have a laugh about. Time for a sabbatical till something happens methinks.

Procul Harem 'A Whiter Shade of Pale'. Not bad, especially since it displaced Silence is Golden by The Tremeloes; and before The Tremeloes, it was Puppet on A String and Something Stoopid. The Summer of Love was preceded by the Spring of Naffness, plainly.

He'll run screaming for the hills, if he's any sense And what makes you think I wouldn't agree with every word he says? We might be soul mates.

The article saying Lennon may be after Harper. No quotes, pure speculation, terrible stuff. Mind you Harper might be for sale if the owner's noticed he's over 30.

When I used to go in the 90's they had big open latrines dug in the ground. I assumed this fella had fallen in, off his head on mushroom cider, to meet a sticky but spectacular end. Alas an undignified shuffling off on the portaloo....
