I think you’ve hit the nail on the head there. His accusation about the club not being run like a serious outfit (or words to that effect) has some validity. But it was far more applicable when Staveley and her hubby were doing things on the hoof. Not a dig at Staveley as that first window saved the club from relegation. But Caulkin’s no longer getting the opportunity to sit in first class on away trips with them, Hirst and co. and the access to gossip that brought

Yeah like you say, a lot of what he says is right.  The fact it's almost a year to the day since Eales handed his notice in and we still don't have a new CEO is ridiculous.  I hope the appointment of the DoF will follow quickly and he's just being held back for the sake of choreography.

But the premise of his article, and Edwards' article was that we can't say we want to be number 1 and sell Isak to Liverpool, because that means we aren't their direct rival.  But the reality, and these lads KNOW this, is that as of right now we aren't Liverpool's direct rival.  So pointing at what Eales said "The players are on a long term contract, we'd be crazy to sell our best players." and pretending that it's some sort of betrayal is stupid - what did he want Eales to say?  And did he really think that that meant that nobody could be sold?  He's a football journalist ffs.

Last summer Eales said the EXACT opposite, which was "all players have a price", and he got pelters for it, and the articles being written were critical.  And I'm no fan of Eales btw, but you can't have it both ways.

The reality of this summer is that the PSR-immune champions of England declared an interest in a player that knew he would never win one of the big trophies at Newcastle United, and would never get paid his market worth at Newcastle United, and that is really the beginning and end of the story.  Everything else that happened subsequent to that were just the details of how he eventually left the club, but he was always leaving as soon as he said that he wanted to go.  None of this means that we can't one day catch up with these clubs, or that there isn't the ambition to do so.  It just means we aren't there now.

Writing articles that are basically a tantrum because we aren't there now, is really unhelpful.  I haven't seen his article about the expectations gap created by Staveley saying that we would be winning everything in 5 years, but that's because Caulkin is a romantic and as long as someone/something gives him the feels, he'll forgive them forever.

I am not deleting the thread, so that anyone moaning about him can do it in here rather than anywhere else.

and so that @ohhh_yeah has somewhere to post his retirement video in ten years.

Appreciate the reaction from the supporters at Villa Park & Elland Road might have some bearing on it, but not a single mention on his social media about playing for us or the support he got from us. It's as though we didn't exist.

Tired of discussing it with people who support other teams - "you're just bitter he's gone", etc..  No, actually, I feel annoyed with myself that I gave a cunt, sorely lacking in common decency, the time of day simply because he pulled on the shirt of my club.

Anything he's had a part in feels tainted in some way.

Fairly apparent anything he acheived here least of all the cup final didn't mean a fuckin thing to him, just a means to an end. A Hollywood career awaits... 😒

The Shearer interview did it for me, you could tell he was avoiding Shearer's clumsy, joking 'are you staying?' questions. I didn't think he'd be here for life but I thought he'd laugh those off saying I've got a while yet but he looked shifty even then.

Not sure why he feels the need to broadcast to the world instead of in a text message to Isak

Stick to posting pictures of you taking a shit, Sven.
