Have refs got worse cos they've got VAR to fall back on now? Some absolute bollocks from this lot tonight.

I’ve seen it so many times where referees rely on VAR to give a decision rather than giving it and running the risk of being overruled. Get that big Polish cunt from the WC into the PL.

We'll need to be considerably better away to Leicester, who were on a decent run of form before the break, and won 3-0 tonight albeit against MK Dons, to get anything. We're crying out for those transfer additions in midfield and attack if even only to freshen things up, even if you factor in being rusty tonight. Hopefully Isak will be back soon and firing to give us another option.

Getting shit calls and still winning; who are we?

The clean sheet is key IMO as it will be on our defensive fortitude that we make our push for a champion's league spot. Even though we've scored plenty of goals thus far I can see them drying up a little, particularly after the shit World Cup may have put the breaks on our offensive cohesiveness and the hot form of some of our players (Miggy, I'm looking at you here). No injuries too.

We controlled the game, had a few chances (Almiron's chief among them), and all while looking rusty A F. We're through to the quarter finals of the League Cup where the best sides left in are Man Utd (probably) and one of Man City and Liverpool. I'm not saying we'll definitely win the cup, but we're definitely winning the League Cup lads.

Leicester put 3 past a side 23rd in League 1,  let not get carried away with their result. They're in a good run of form, but we've looked solid at the back for ages. Only conceded 2 goals in the last 8 games.

If you obstruct the keepers view, prevent him from coming for the ball, or even attempt to play the ball without actually touching it when in an offside position, it's interfering with play. The ball went under Willock as far as I recall and he attempted to play it, so it  he could be said to be interfering on all of the above counts.

It was a bullshit decision. Fuck all about whether he did or didn't touch the ball, the linesman changed his decision on the strength of the arguments from the Bournemouth players. If he thinks he's interfering with play, why take 30s to put the flag up?

still more pissed off longstaff doesn't pass to wilson than any dodgy refereeing decisions me!

anyway, not the best of games, very similar to the league game against them, but onwards we go. looking forward to leicester, sure we'll be sharper than last night and we'll need to be!

Carragher:

"The first major domestic trophy since 1955 would be just as much of a statement of where the club is heading. Imagine the scenes at Wembley if generations of Newcastle fans who have spent decades wondering when that day will come could savour such success. Finishing 4th - extraordinary though it would be - would not eclipse that."
