I'm hosting quiz nights for a living now. Great fun.

I basically banned trivia tie breakers at the end and replaced it with stupid tasks to amuse me and everyone else.

Had a dog biscuit eat off after a 3 way tie tonight. Entertained me.

I'll write this on here because there's been enough people from here, either known or knew me personally.

About four weeks ago, I collapsed in the bookies like a dead weight. It was day of the England v Costa Rica game. Got to the hospital where I regained consciousness and they didn't have a clue what was wrong with me after loads of tests.

Had a brain scan and blood test on Monday and had one today, got dragged in to a spare room, and the result is I have a brain tumour. I don't know anything about it really till Tuesday they believe it's treatable, but I said could I be dead this time next year, they said yes but also you could live 30 years too. As you can imagine, and as I'm sure anyone would be I'm a nervous wreck. They believe it could well be malignant but aren't sure, I may need chemo, but they're not sure, I may need a brain op but they're not sure. Without doubt it's one of the worst days I've ever had, my lass was worse than me though she cried from the minute the specialist told us, and I was like it supposed to be yee that's strong for me man! Anyway, does anyone know of anyone with a brain tumour before, I genuinely don't, what happened, how long did they survive etc....

Stevie, there's two blokes at my work that in the past few years have had brain tumours. One in his 30s and one older bloke in his 50s. Both were operated on and both are now back at work.

The 50 year old bloke took a little while longer getting back to work, but the younger lad was back and well in what seemed like no time. And honestly you wouldn't know he'd been through any of it (same for the older bloke but I didn't know him before the op).

I'm sure it'll be the same for you and wish you all the best.

Total nightmare Stevie, not much harder things in life to hear than that. Obviously everything crossed that it's not malignant and can e easily treated. I really don't know much about this type of cancer but I would imagine that if it can be removed surgically then it's unlikely you'll die from it. Meaning you'll live long enough for it to be something else.

Only thing to do is to wait and see what the next tests say. I would have thought that lack of other major symptoms and your age would mean it's been caught relatively quickly.

Anything I can look into for you just let me know. My very best wishes and hope its something the docs can't sort out quickly.

I don't know you apart from your countless posts here over the years. Brain tumours are beatable, no doubt about that mate. I know someone who's beaten it (about the same age, maybe older than you) and they are the same fucker as before it. Do as the doctors say and you'll get through this.

Thanks. I've been googling stats and came across one stat that suggests only 41% of men survive 5 years or more. I'm too young for this I'm 36, I've got my whole life ahead, I don't want to die as childish as it sounds, I've got far too much to live for. My lass hasn't stopped shaking all day, me mothers distraught, even me level headed sister is all over the place. If I've only got 5 years I might not even see an Ashley-less Newcastle again. Anyway thanks for the kind words, Tuesday really is D Day.

Jesus Stevie, I'm sorry to hear that. I can only echo what Scott said, in that the only person I've known with a brain tumour had it operated on and they've bounced back seemingly without a problem.

All the best mate.

Thanks Chez, I'll know more on Tuesday. I keep thinking what am I telling people this on forums for, I'll tell you why because I'm shitting myself and I want to hear of people who know anyone who's been through this. I know I need to stop worrying. Me dads had lung cancer for a long while now, he's only here because he dismisses it.

I knew a lass who had 5 separate brain aneurysms as well and had them all taken out in one go, and she's fine. Fit as a bastard as well.

Nowt childish about wanting to live though. Got everything crossed for you for next week and beyond, but as Chez says, hopefully the fact that you've only displayed symptoms once means they've caught it early and they just need to go in and whip the fucker out and you're sorted.

Bloody hell Stevie. All the best with beating this, which Im sure you will.

All I would add is that dont be afraid to fight your corner. By that I mean dont be afraid to get second opinions with regards to treatment. A bloke I used to know(different type of cancer) was told something was untreatable. A second opinion resulted in an successful operation.

If you are having a day googling you might want to read about Martin Kemp of Spandeau ballet. He battled two of the fuckers and has been quite open about how he survived the horrific early days that you are going through now.

All the best fighting it.

Just like to add my good wishes too. Don't worry about the stats, they mean fuck all, every case is different. You're young and in fairly good shape so you've every chance. And on the plus side, anything that reduces the size of your massive bonce can only be a positive. ;)

All the very best Stevie, I can only echo what everyone else has said, look after yourself and make sure you talk about it as much as possible (I know you said about forums and not necessarily "knowing" the people you're telling this to, but if you can have long-running arguments with Twitter doilums you've never met, why should it be any different when it comes to finding support?). Here's hoping the news next week is on the better side.

Really sorry to hear this awful news Stevie.

Had a couple of friends when I was a school who had brain tumours (not sure about the medical details) but both died. One within months and one lived a couple of years. As is often strangely the case, they were both brilliant blokes, one really good at sport and the other fearless in all he did. But that was a few decades ago.

These days it is entirely treatable (depending on variety) and it isn't unusual to be back to normal after a few months, like Gemmill said in his earlier post.

Good luck and I hope everything turns out fine.

Jesus Stevie.

Hope everything proves to be beatable, you'll be bricking it but stay positive mate.

Once you have a definite diagnosis you can take control of it- research treatment, find the best options etc.

Til then, stay strong mate.

Holy Shit Stevie, like it has been said the best thing you have going for you is that you are young. Positive outlook is key, my younger cousin had a rare case of lymphoma, was given little chance by the doctors and came through like a champ.

Sending positive vibes your way.
