Point is, giving the obvious decision here would have prevented this. Ordinary open play when no offence has been committed is different because the officials should not be intervening then. It’s somewhat similar to someone being called a ‘good ref’ because letting niggling fouls go is ‘letting the game flow’ when it is in fact likely to just wind players up and cause a bad tackle or reaction. I suppose it come down to opinions though and I can see the argument for this with offsides. The latter example I gave annoys me a lot more
