Not sure they’ve thought that one through

I had quite a relaxing holiday in the summer even with the kids in tow but the recent long weekend in the lakes (not helped by the inclement weather) was anything but relaxing. Being stuck in a cabin with the kids, dogs and de facto in laws was brutal her dad is bang into GB News and basically spent 3 days watching it on his tablet. At least there was a break in the weather and I went for a walk up Wansfell on the Saturday morning. That hour and a half was my holiday

Totally agree. Mid 60s to mid 70s is probably my favourite era in film. I think George Roy Hill is slightly overlooked compared to some of his contemporaries. Apart from the obvious other one (Butch and Sundance) he directed some other quality films. Two that stand out are Slaughterhouse 5 and The World According to Garp. Two great books imo where an adaptation could’ve easily been shite but they both managed to capture the essence of the novels.

Iraola's South Coast Softy Walters vs Eddie's Superstar Mags
Alex replied to Gemmill's topic in Newcastle Forum
Fucking feast or famine with you we haven’t clicked in attack and are struggling to score. Understandable really with Wissa’s injury. We look very solid defensively and barely gave a very good Bournemouth a sniff of a goal and should’ve had a pen. And we made loads of changes to the team. It was a shite spectacle entertainment-wise but they will beat loads of teams at their place imo -

Howe seems to rate him but if everyone was fit I don’t think he’d make the bench if it was my decision -

Does each hotdog have its own little parachute or did they come in batches? I just can’t quite picture how the fuck this would work

External hard drives are notorious for failing @Christmas Tree at least try and have them backed up somewhere else too. As others have alluded to you can get very inexpensive cloud storage from the likes of apple, google and prime. You might even already have it for free with one of those. But even the upgrades for more storage don’t cost much.

It’s true at any level tbh but it’s a good point worth making. If you’re physically and mentally tired from having to play against a side that good at keeping the ball then you are more prone to errors when you eventually get the ball. It’s not just because you’re in that situation but because your teammates are too. They aren’t as willing or able to show for the ball so it makes it even harder to keep possession. The other factor is that our tactics didn’t work. Not blaming Howe at all because they should have worked (ie it’s not the manager’s fault we didn’t score a couple of goals in that opening period like we should have). If you go a couple of goals up then you get that extra bit of energy but also your approach can completely change. If you play with that sort of intensity and end up having to chase the game it’s draining. Especially when we don’t really have depth in midfield to change it up.

It stopped but it has (inexplicably) been revived

Aye, because we’d have beaten them with a disgruntled player stinking up the place and no replacements. Also, as good an excuse as any to post a photo of his midlife crisis:

Barnes is also quite lightweight and gives the impression of being outmuscled rather than fouled in real time, even when it’s actually the latter. I think he’s a great luxury to have coming off the bench but rarely looks the part starting games. If he’s happy with role whilst not getting many starts then he’s an asset. I don’t think they’d think twice about accepting a half decent offer for him though

I think it’s far too young like. Hardly any of them make it and they’ve then missed the fun aspect of playing with their mates but also being really good, relative to most of their peers. But the flip side is it just seem like too good an opportunity not to take. But if he’s good enough he’ll get picked up later anyway. Must be tough for you and him

What you’re going up against when you play a good Barca side isn’t just a technically brilliant, professionally coached side. Some of them have been playing in the same youth sides with the same philosophy and playing the same triangles against the opposition since they were bairns.

That second strike by Rashford was fucking unbelievable btw.

Canny first half. We were competitive against one of the top 5 sides in Europe.

Quite often have a central hub for games when the kids are younger I think in junior football. You can do that more easily as it’s smaller sided games. As you can have a few games taking place simultaneously on an artificial full sized pitch.

Just messaged you

Yeah. I remember that actually. Travelling light years was possible but rib vaults and flying buttresses were beyond their ken? Hmm…

My cousin’s laddie is at the Mackems academy and they don’t get a great deal of financial support. He’s coming up to 16 too so it’s a big chunk of his life taken up by training, playing and travelling to away games and so on.
