  1. Pretty much everything at every level was wrong at Newcastle when he came in, this was compounded by the owner/chairman not taking any steps to correct it, which is why every manager on the planet turned it down before JFK was asked. Some of the main pressures he had to work under; * He only had a short term contract, so had no power or respect the job should have come with. * The club was for sale. The uncertain future would have made motivating/galvanising the squad very hard. * Fan/player bemusement at his appointment. Most said 'who?'. * Everyone wanted Keegan back and thought his appointment was ridiculous and very temporary. * Constant media ridcule (e.g. saying he turned up to train when the players were off). * The squad was tiny injury ridden squad that had no creativity. The list goes on, but my point is he took on a job no f*cker would, so show him a bit of respect. So in your opinion anyone who takes a shit job after being out of work for years has done exceptionally well regardless of how they perform?
  2. England win the toss, we're batting.
  3. Precisely the treatment he deserves. It's not his Bow time yet.
  4. A quick scan through Phil's previous posts shows him up as a devils advocate type. A Toontastic Adrian Durham if you will.
  5. Since when did a handful of draws against bottom-half sides fall in to the category 'exceptionally well'? Fuck off.
  6. What a cunt. Has he forgot he was on the dole for four years after being sacked by two League Two clubs? The cunt.
  7. I saw a fella in the scouse home kit with torres 9 on the back talking on his mobile (probably nicked) the other day. He was saying: "I fuckin told them, I don't want to look for a fuckin job. I want to sign-on on a tuesday and pick my money up on a thursday." Looks like some stereotypes are based on fact.
  8. I still think it would've been good if Irvine had won the championship the year Schumi broke his leg. I've never really rated Barrichello, he's a good number two driver but not a number one. I suppose his set-up and development experience is worth something but I'd rather have a young charger as a number two if I was running a team. I know you'll call me cynical, but I don't think Irvine was 'allowed' to win the WDC that year. The pace he had over the McLarens was unreal right up until the final race of the season in Japan - then he was nowhere on a circuit that Ferrari were awesome at in all years around '99. When he joined Ferrari, Schumacher's remit was to deliver the team's first WDC since Scheckter. For his 'also-ran' team mate to do it instead would have been a PR disaster. I can't believe that Ferrari would throw away a potential world championship for the sake of PR. Even if they did only bring three tyres out for one of his pit-stops
  9. That's beast! Stop pissing around and get rid of the patch on the back completely ffs adidas.
  10. I enjoyed In Search of Perfection even though following the recipes would've been wildly impractical. I think I'd prefer to try his Hind's Head gastropub rather than the Tasting Menu at The Fat Duck.
  11. Utter mong or comic genius? My money is on the former

  13. Harmi has been added, concerns over Freddie's fitness.
  14. Give that man a prize. Yes, it's more than likely tiredness which a couple of early nights will cure or stress. Your love life isn't giving you grief again is it?
  15. Yip. Part of why Test cricket is the best game around, for me. This. Americans might not be able to understand a game that takes five days and can still be a draw, but that had more theatre than a Twenty-20 will ever have in my book. In terms of morale that should feel like a loss in the crim's dressing room. Ponting will get stick for his decision making despite his 150. EDIT: It also shows what a massive loss warne and mcgrath are to them. There is no way our tail-enders would've hung around so long in either innings if they had been present.
  16. You checked the sell-by date on them? (The beers, not the players).
  17. Can we not go on lockdown again?
