The press down this way are pretty certain Beardsley is going to be involved in some capacity....

The comments about "football has changed so much in 11 years" are beginning to piss me off tbh. He left Newcastle 11 years ago but have the media forgotten that he did a couple of years at Fulham, 18 months as England boss and however long it was at Citeh?? He's actually been out of the game less than 3 years (34 months) and ok, he might not have been to a live football match in that time, but I seem to recall he didn't after retiring as a player and that was 8 years!!

Whether you consider the Keegan appointment to be the right one or the wrong one, there was an article the other day which pretty much nailed on the situation. Probably more than any club in the UK, the need for enthusiasm to be forthcoming between the players and the fans is absolutely massive. If the players aren't performing, the crowd aren't inspired, if the crowd don't perform, the players are uninspired. With that in mind, I think Mort & Ashley have pulled off a master-stroke. They've made an appointment that will instantly strike a chord with the fans and get them vocal and full of support for the same squad of players who've been roundly criticised for large parts of the season. Think of how it'll be on Saturday, 52,000 people screaming Keegan's name (yes there will be some who won't, but the majority will) and the effect that will have on the team will hopefully show through. So the rest of the country are laughing at us.... who gives a fuck? Amazing that all they remember is how he failed, not how within 4 years he took a side that was on the brink of Division 3 to Premiership title favourites. They're desperate for him to fail - I think he'll bring silverware.

25 pages on this?? Have a word with yourselves man!

You weren't there when the stoke fans attacked the families coming off the trains last time we went down there then? While I remember quite clearly what happened in 1995 and it was disgusting, that is in no way excusable for it happening on our own patch.

I hope this works... I really do.... I feel like a kid who's just looked through his first jazz mag.. But I'm worried it'll end in tears. Taylor went back to Watford and it wasn't the same. Kendall went back to Everton and was a shadow of his former self. People need to treat this like they did the first time he was appointed.... with no expectations at all. If they expect, they'll most likely be disappointed.

Jesus man, all you do is slag the place off and tell us how shit you think it is..... So why are you bothered you're banned?? Surely they're doing you a favour?

You don't say....

Quite clearly Dave at the front right Are you gonna tell me that the lass Wullie 'nicked' is middle left in the red top?

Agreed, I couldn't stand him as a player. Might have had something to do with where he mainly plied his trade.... Agree though.

Breakfast Show isn't bad - better when they've got Parry on there because the bloke is an absolute clown and comes out with some real 'pearlers'..... That said I think he does make a fair assessment in general and as far as we're concerned, doesn't really have a bad word to say... Ian 'fucking fat twat' Abrahams on the other hand.........

It's Gascoigne man!

Have you got to make it up to the missus again?
-
Fair enough... I don't mind Cundy tbh. He does play they "i used to play football so i know what iam talking about" card a bit too much for my liking though. Adrian Durham is a class-A fucktard though. And I used to switch off whenvever Marcotti come on - has he left?

Worrying when you consider what damaging effect Shepherd evidently had on the club. Amazing the stuff that's coming out now about him to be honest. Ashley appears to be doing things above board. That in itself will take the club further. i'm optimistic that a man worth almost £2bn will take us further than our cretinous former chairman. but the early signs aren't great are they? in fact, when you look at it, the manner in which the allardyce sacking has played out is shepherd-esque. there's the timing of the dismissal (slap bang in the middle of the transfer window), not having a replacement lined up, the courting of a second rate english manager and the resulting public rejection. the only thing missing as far as i can see is some moronic comments about the geordie nation... I think they've fucked up, yes.... But i also think they're new to the game and naive. The thing about Shepherd is he did this kind of calamitous error time and time again. I don't think for one minute, Ashley / Mort thought Redknapp would stay with Pompey. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he'd verbally agreed and then was talked out of it by Storrie / his missus. If the ITKs (who usually are pretty spot on) are to be believed, Redknapp Jnr was already spouting how Harry was on his way to Newcastle. I tell you what is missing if all that IS the case. We thankfully don't have a chairman who would take all this carry-on to the papers. Shepherd would have grumbled about how he'd been sold down the river. Mort has seemingly spun it and said it was only one of the candidates we were looking at...

Not saying either of you are, just think it's a bit premature to state that Ashley's not showing signs of taking the club forward. For one, he's dug into his own pocket and paid off the debt. Now I know he's got a few more pennies in the bank than Shepherd but do you think he (an actual life-long fan of the club remember) would ever have done that? Even a small proportion?? The re-building of this club is going to be long-term. If people are wanting short-term return then they're going to be disappointed. It's evident to me that Ashley/Mort are trying to rebuild this club from the very bottom. Sure, they could have just thrown money and let us buy who the hell we could get our hands on but if the foundations are a pack of cards, the solid house above it will soon collapse. And lets face it, a complete rebuild is what this club desperately needs.

Didn't know Claridge was on Talksport as I very rarely listen to it but he's excellent on Radio 5 whenever he's on. Talks a lot of sense. Both of them DO work for Five Live, not TalkSport...... I think Mr Colon is getting a bit confused

The football Liverpool played under Houllier was some of the most turgid, in the last forty years at Anfield. Yes he won three trophies, fluked a UEFA against a tiny Spanish club, fluked the League Cup against Man Utd reserves, and after being utterly battered for 80 mins against Arsenal, fluked the FA Cup. Fluke or no fluke... he got 3 trophies inside 2 months. 3rd last trophy we won was 56 years ago! FWIW I don't think he's right for the job but if he did get it, I wouldn't give a fuck how attractive the football is if he could achieve only a 1/3 of what he did in 2001 with Liverpool.

I fail to see what Liverpool have done wrong like... The owners obviously thought there was a possibility that Rafa might walk if no money was forthcoming so they've looked at possibilities to cover their arse. Klinsmann was out of work so they've not made any illegal approach. The only thing that's questionable is whether they should have publicised the fact. Their decision to do so and if they hadn't and it had leaked out another way, it would probably be more damaging in the long term. Will keep Rafa on his toes too. As HF and Luke said, if only we'd done something like this...

As ever, an 'said as it is' article from True Faith and absolutely 100% spot on... Don't think I've ever disagreed with articles they write. They seem to get all of the fans frustrations collectively and concisely covered.
