He's a poor Frank Lampard, and that's saying something.
-
He's better than most of the managers being linked to the club, so I'd probably be happy if we appointed him. It won't happen, though.
-
I think this is where we might stand a chance with van Gaal. He went to AZ because it would be a challenge, and he's taken them very far, probably not as far as he can, but we're one of the biggest challenges in the footballing world. It must be tempting for somebody like van Gaal.

What an awful suggestion. I don't see how we're supposed to discuss a question with such a straightforward answer.

Hitzfeld, Houllier and Van Gaal now in the frame
Offshore Toon replied to Tribal's topic in Newcastle Forum
Van Gaal would be my choice out of the three. Hitzfeld didn't do too well at Bayern this time 'round, but he has a great track record. I'm really not sure about Houllier. -
Hmm... 3-0. Can I change my vote?
-
I'm slightly worried about who we'll appoint if Harry was our number 1 target.
-
I can't see us getting rid of him unless someone big is coming in. It has to be Mourinho.
-
That's an ambitious move. I seriously doubt he'll go to Boro, though.
-
Decent list, Kets.
-
It wasn't that bad, really.
-
Jack of all trades, master of none.

Doesn't mean we've only got the £10m to spend should he go for that much. Good point. I doubt we'd be the only club competing for his signature, though, and the other clubs chasing him are likely to be Champions League teams.
-
I can't see Huntelaar going for £10m.
-
Well I didn't read what they said, and I doubt I'd care that much. Yes, he'd be "fantastic". The potential is there, the potential doesn't have a first touch, but it's there. And how many players do we have that can make something out of nothing? I struggle to think of many. Charlie, possibly. Maybe Milner. Martins, definently.
-
In a side full of confidence he would be a fantastic player, but £10m would be very tempting. I'd probably send them a video of his goal at WHL and wait for them to offer more.
-
I'm not sure about being the third name on the teamsheet, but he hasn't been as bad as people try to make out. I wouldn't mind seeing him leave for £5m.
-
He certainly wouldn't be my first choice, but I'd give him my backing, more so than other managers, probably, because I'd want it to work.
-
It would be great if Owen left for £8m and we signed Gudjohnsen to replace him. I can't see it happening, though.
-
Parker wasn't a bad signing because he was great in the first season and we sold him for just as much as we bought him for. He gave his all, but in the end, it simply wasn't to be.

Get out of Toon: Newcastle put £8m Owen up for grabs
Offshore Toon replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
He'll be available for free at the end of the season? That's absolutely ridiculous. £8m would be a very good price for him, regardless of that little clause. I just hope Sven can persuade Thaksin to give him the cash. -
Diego would be the better signing. He appears to be a more physical player and I think he has more quality all round.
-
I'd be surprised if he joined us because he could probably join some of the best clubs in Europe. We aren't an attractive prospect at the moment.
-
Barton should be fine, then. I love the way that the BBC point out the maximum sentence, just to make things a bit worse. I suppose it's to be expected.
