  1. To say it's meaningless to lose pre-season games is rubbish. Every match has some meaning to it and to win is the name of the game. Sure it's a feeling out process, practice, viewing the mix of players, etc etc, but the whole idea is to win. A loss to "I told'em Oldham" should not be acceptable to anyone especially Pardoo. In my lifetime I have played many practice, charity, meaningless games, but losing in any of them did not sit well with me.
  2. I'm pleased with the signing of Janmaat but stay a little worried about our back 4. Santon appears to be out until September which will probably mean Dumbett will be a starter and that doesn't please me too much. I think Williamson is a weak link and frankly I would prefer Saylor or a new body in next to Colo.
  3. No.1 on my list of all-time greats. RIP Alfredo. Born in Argentina Tom, hence playing for his country. Became a Spanish citizen hence playing for Spain. FIFA never recognized the games he played for Columbia.
  4. De Jong has quoted that we are aiming for a 4th place finish and a Champions League place. I hope his comment is based on his behind closed doors knowledge of just who we are going to sign to achieve that. He ain't ganna dee it hesself.
  5. Is it a done deal? There is no mention of it on BBC football but there is a mention of Sidwell going to Stoke from Fulham.
  6. England's reputation was built on playing the game at 90 MPH but nowadays they don't seem to be able to get out of 2nd gear and spend to much time idling.
  7. As a Newcastle supporter we currently have to look forward to winning the Premier league!! I know it won't happen in my lifetime, I'm way past my due date. Perhaps not in yours either, but there's nowt wrang wi looking forward.
  8. I'm at a point where ...................... I don't think we'll get an adequate replacement to fill Cabaye's boots. I don't think we'll get a striker anywhere as good as Remy. I think that if Debuchy leaves we won't get anyone as good to take his place. In fact I think this summer window will be a complete disaster for us. I think, well I'd like to think, I'm having a nightmare and everything will turn out good.
  9. I see relegated Cardiff have signed another striker. That's 2 strikers and a midfielder already and we've signed neebody.
  10. Would appear relegated Cardiff are showing us their heels in summer signings. They have already signed a striker and a midfielder to our ZERO signing so far. I thought Pardew was supposed to be coming out of the gate running in regard to summer signings.
  11. Done me heed in did the Heed. I have never seen a team make so many back and lateral passes in me life. Don't know why I watched Gateshead v Cambridge, it was a lot like watching Newcastle, nowt up front and leaky at the back.
  12. Am I missing something in all this money talk? Don't we get TV money and 10th place money? This amounts to a tidy sum so why worry about Ashley dipping into his own pocket. My concern is that Ashley won't spend that bonus money on player recruitment, at least not all of it. Look at what happened to the 35 million for Carroll and the 19 million for Cabaye. I didn't see any benefit from that income, and it didn't come out of Ashley's purse.
  13. I suppose Pardew keeping his job was to be expected seeing as how Ashley is the shows puppeteer and Pardew the clown puppet. I had sincerely hoped he would be sacked but I should have known better than that. I guess it's now the wait to see what's going to happen in the exit and entry summer scheme of things. Can't help but think there will be major disappointments.
  14. Well we could have won had it not been for 2 preventable goals. And we certainly finished the season with a flourish ......... 2 red cards, another loss, and nobody scoring for us. Well done Amoeba & Dummshit. Too bad Gouffran missed that one on one with the keeper. Actually put in a good first half shift as a team. Season over thank God, and I hope so is Pardew's tenure.
  15. Ah, 1993, year to remember. Was home on a 3 week holiday September/October, Newcastle were playing away and I didn't go to away games. Went to Durham City with an old mate having a walk-around. Outside the swimming baths along the riverside I unsuspectedly fell unconscious on the pavement. Woke up in Dryburn Hospital late Saturday afternoon and was there until Monday. Was reluctantly released by staff on my demand. Flew back to California on the Wednesday and checked into an Emergency room on arrival. Was admitted to hospital, diagnosis Brain Tumour. Aye, 1993 was a year to remember.
  16. With BenArfa claiming he's fit (in his illegal interview) but not even on the bench today, it will be very interesting to see if he will be in the squad for Liverpool. Or will Pardew continue not to use of our most talented, and only flair player on the books.
  17. We've been entrenched in 9th spot for so long, but I don't think we'll end up there. I can't see us getting anything from the Liverpool game, but Stoke City who are only 2 points behind us play West Brom in their last game and they might just win that one and move above us. If Crystal Palace should beat Liverpool (highly unlikely), then beat Fulham in their last game, they too could move above us on goal difference bumping us out of the top ten.
  18. Yup, Barton's on the Fox network.
  19. 3 - 0 was very flattering indeed, 2 goals in the second half was even more flattering as we could have easily lost the game as we were rubbish. Remy scored......... but for the most part he was anonymous and what he did do he did poorly. Sissoko played well but was overly greedy in trying to score. Dummett should not have started, Haidara is better. Great stuff from Saylor!! Yeah, Amoeba scored but was his usual lumbering hulk.
  20. Actually as a team we didn't put in such a bad performance, we are just not in the same class as Arsenal. Not sure what class Pardew belongs in, Armstrong in on the 88th minute, what the fuck!! My heart soared when he put Amoeba in. Somebody needs to know that Dummett cannot take free kicks. Remy wasn't the answer to scoreless games. Gouffran blew two good scoring opportunities. Williamson should have prevented the first goal, the ball went over his head within heading distance for him.
  21. I can only hope this will not be another humiliation in London. If we lose this one(and we no doubt will) making it a new record of losses on the trot, how many will it take before Ashley gets rid of his bum-boy for the sake of his business enterprises.
  22. Watching them Sunday makes me think we don't have a snowball's chance in.............................keeping the score to a non-suicidal number. But then again, we are Newcastle United, and we have a man-managing-manager who is full of surprises in what he does on and off the pitch. Watch for him to stick the loaf on Wenger.
  23. Just how many weeks have we been stuck in 9th place without any movement up or down? We would have dropped into 10th if Stoke had won on Saturday. Something tells me we might well not finish in the top 10.
  24. On listening to Pardoo, I'd like him to explain how he would have stopped that goal if he had been on the touch-line. Would he have dashed on the field and grabbed Tiote before he could give the penalty away?
  25. Look on the bright side lads, with Remy and Debuchy back we'll hammer Arsenal and Liverpool. Might lose to Cardiff though cos it's at the Fortress.
