Gemmill 62979
Has the bloke that got Birmingham and Hull relegated offered any congratulations to the bloke that got Bournemouth relegated for ending Newcastle's trophy drought?
Gemmill 62979
I almost want Lineker to ask Shearer about it on their podcast, cos Shearer would 100% show himself up by going after Gayle.
Isegrim 11877
I don’t think you can consider Gayle‘s comments and the context as mild criticism. It’s scathing tbh. It’s a former player saying that he is a total fraud. The way Dwight starts giggling trying to think about anecdotes he can tell and the way the bruceysaurus baconensis acted after the takeover realising to be out of a job soon tells everything imho. I can totally understand him trying to defend himself and using ad hominem attacks towards Gayle. When you look at Bruce‘s career he has little success to show how he made it to more than 1000 games as a manager. His only ability seems to befriend the right people, especially journalists. That’s quite telling about his character too tbh, only to be nice to people he thinks are important. He was certainly the right person for Ashley to piss off fans after Benitez. An appointment out of spite, kept in the job out of spite. Maybe from a good family though. Alex excluded. 4

Alex 42058
Pure speculation but I reckon Rafa will have been delighted for the fans and everyone connected with the club whereas I bet our winning the league cup will have pissed off self proclaimed Newcastle fan Steve Bruce. Which is nice
Gemmill 62979
How dare you? Only last week he said he was delighted cos he's "a Geordie, and that never leaves you". It seemed to have left him for the duration of his time as manager when he treated the role like a giant fucking doss though.

Bruce treated every day as a job and knock day, so some might say he was the most geordie. Not me. I thought he was a fat, lazy cunt. But some people.... Ayatollah Hermione 17219
Played three, lost three including crashing out of the Carabao at the first hurdle. Could be a vintage Brucey year this, albeit out the limelight a bit

Craig 12322
Just now, Andrew said: His stock was a wee bit higher in '09 than when we actually got him in tbf The bar was also ridiculously low IIRC. I try not to recall too much about that season - it's second only to 88/89* in my experience of shit NUFC seasons, but I think this was just after Kinnear had to step down due to his heart issues. * - I'm well aware those slightly older will talk about 77/78 & 80/81 being worse.
NJS 5277
Yeah, 80/81 was the worst for me. Shinton top scorer with 8.

Thankfully I missed it by a few years, but 88/89 was just god damn awful. Starting it with John Hendrie & Mirandinha up front promising so much and we ended it with fucking Frank Pingel & Rob ‘bastard’ McDonald! IIRC we invested the Gazza / Goddard / Neil McDonald cash into Beasant, Robertson, Hendrie & Thorn with the last one being the only one who was still with us for the start of the following season and even he left for Palace after a couple of months. Just god damn awful.

Craig 12322
He wasn't the only one tbf - with very few exceptions, we were all apathetic at the idea of Howe coming in. How wrong we were.
