This is exactly why I said he should no longer be captain. Leader of our football club? He'd rather fuck off to Argentina than stay and offer support to his team mates who are on a pretty important cup run and still a battle against relegation. I like Colo, but his head is not here anymore.

The back injury is a ruse in my opinion.

Maybe it has been put in place for Pardew to roll out the line: "Backs are a tricky one. We arent sure when he'll be able to train again. Its taking longer than expected. We have to be careful with backs" etc etc etc.

i don't think anyone on here thought once he didn't leave in jan that he'd not be buggering off to Argentina for personal reasons,

but the "i've injured my back, so i'm going sit on a plane for half a day and then be out and about ironically at the club i didn't get to join...while i err Dance about recover" is a total fucking piss take.

Really sours the reputation he built for himself here frankly

Was he not there to see his wife and kid?

Playing devil's advocate here, I know.

You have a point, one I understand. But I also believe these are supposed to be professional footballers, earning crazy money each week. We're in a dog-fight in the league and we've a tough quarter final with Benfica. If I were a player there, I'd have so much more confidence if he was there (like a captain should be), keeping everyone bonded. How would you feel if you came off the back of the Wigan loss, everything happening to Haidara, now trying to re-group for Citae and Benfica, and there's videos of your club captain singing/chanting away and having fun.

I still don't really get this... How are this tiny Argentinian club going to pay for him again? Presumably the situation will be the same come summer, he's still under contract.

Pretty sure his kid is still here, someone mentioned seeing him (think it was a youth team/sons play together connection).

It can only be weeks old at best.

Fast developers these half-Argentine kids

Keeping an interest in football these days is about pretending isn't it?

Pretending a bunch of foreign mercenaries really care about your club and aren't looking for their next move before the ink dries on the contract.

Pretending clubs, outside of those with daft money or London, have any chance of winning the league.

Pretending anyone at the club cares as much as you do.

  • 4 weeks later...

We have seen recently how important Colo is to our team. Taylor looks half the player when Colo isn't beside him. Mbiwa has all the qualities to be class but its unfair to judge him after being hoyed into a new league at the deep end. I just hope we haven't fucked his confidence already.

It never changed once in the first 11 or so games though. After that players came into a winning team with the best defence in the league, confidence was high and breeds success. Totally different stepping into a relegation battle.
