There'd be at least half a dozen PL clubs who'd pay £10m+ for Targett. He's a solid enough left-back but I don't think Howe was ever convinced on him. At the end of his loan spell it seemed to take a while for us to complete the move permanently; I felt at the time we'd been exploring other possibilities there.

Not sure who will pay £10m for Targett.

Forest, Bournemouth, Brentford if they sell Henry or even as cover for him, Palace now that Hall isn't looking likely for them etc. There's plenty of teams that would be more than happy to have his experience in the PL and professionalism in their squad's. 10m in this market would be more than fair for a player of his profile, and it's a price that most teams in the PL can afford. He's never going to pull up any trees, but he's a 6.5/7 out of 10 consistently.

This is easily the deepest squad we've had in our PL history.

Pope

Trippier

Botman

Hall

Livramento

Joelinton

Bruno

Tonali

Isak

Gordon

Barnes

all good enough for any CL clubs starting XI

Add in

Dubravka

Schar

Burn

Willock

Longstaff

Miley

Anderson

Almiron

Wilson

off the bench and I think that squad is as good as any in the league. There's only really Almiron and Schar left to upgrade after this Summer. Madness

Reading the comments under the Chelsea news account there's a bit of debate as to how reliable the guy is, understandably, but apparently he did have the news of how bad Nkunku's injury was early among other things. Of course he could have just got a lucky guess on the injury. But we'll see, there does seem to be some momentum behind Hall making a move.

With La Liga being dull, why does everyone want to go to Madrid? It's a bit like the SPL, only warmer.

I can see they get Champs League football every year but most other top clubs are guaranteed now, with the way that CL is structured.

La Liga is boring, but it is not if you are going to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona. You make sure to be champion yes or yes every year of one or two cups.

For many years, Real Madrid and Barcelona have been able to expand very well in South America and every person born there dreams of playing for these two clubs. (I understand that also because of a matter as simple as the fact that we share a language).

Keep in mind that, although the Premier League is the best league in the world, there is no clear dominator. There was it with Fergie at Manchester United, but in the last 20 years things have been divided between Manchesters, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool... It's more difficult to feel identified with a Chelsea that wins the UCL one year, but the following year He doesn't play it because Tottenham, Leicester, Everton or, from now on, us also fight for it.

On the other hand, Real Madrid and Barcelona not only play the championship every year, but have dominated it for years. Madrid historically, and recently too. And they have benefited from this thanks to the unfair distribution of television money that they have had for more than 10 years for which they took 160M euros each team, while for the rest of the 18 teams in Spain there were 300M to distribute.

In addition, they have also had the two greatest stars of world football (Messi and Ronaldo) of the last decade as emblems.

Madrid and Barcelona is not the same as saying the Spanish League. And if you can't go with them, you'll go outside. The sample was what happened in its day with players like Silva or Mata (they played for Valencia, which was the third best team in Spain and had to go to the Premier) or with others like Cazorla.

Without going any further, nothing ago, Leeds in the Championship signed Rodrigo Moreno to Valencia, then their star striker. And there are many cases of players leaving teams in Spain that are Top 6 to go to teams that are fighting to stay in the Premier League.

PS: For a few years now, thanks to Simeone, Atlético has become a very attractive team also for some players.

30mil plus on a cm that has had 9 games in his  career but out of position at lb is good business? What?

Seems risky with our ffp constraints.

Still need a CB but you can't have it all.

Does this not turn Burn into a more readily available CB though? 2-for-1. Plus we have Krafth returning from injury who actually played well at CB when called on under Howe.
