  1. Anyway, while I wasn't coming here to post that, I was coming to post this, at least. Worth bearing in mind alongside the daily drip-feed of statistical gloom.
  2. We've just binned a load of 80s and 90s Formula 1 season reviews on VHS. It's all digital now, innit
  3. Putting this in here rather than in Classifieds because I'm giving away, not selling (and because I want the post to actually get read ) I'm having a wee clearout ahead of a house move and I've got these NUFC DVDs that I'm not looking to hang on to: NUFC Season Review 2002/03 NUFC Season Review 2003/04 NUFC Season Review 2011/12 Shearer The Legend I know they sometimes go for a few quid on eBay (and other times for pennies), but I can't be bothered with that & there's no point giving them to a charity shop in London, so I thought I'd mention it on here in case anyone knows anyone who'd want them. Happy for it to be a friend of a relative of your milkman's neighbour (etc.), just Paypal me a couple of quid for postage and they're yours. Hit me up with a PM if interested.
  4. Then you'll finish the job in the last 16.
  5. Well, we've got rid of Turkey, Russia and Poland. Now just need ze Germans to dispatch the blackshirts and make it an autocrat clean sweep.
  6. Still, at least Dubravka has prevented them from scoring the biggest own goal of the day.
  7. Ah yes, "the rainbow". What's it represent again, lads? If it's just a symbol of tolerance towards "everyone", there'd be no problem with lighting up the Munich stadium, would there? What a load of shit.
  8. These days he and Moritz Volz would have a podcast.
  9. "You cannot claim tax relief if you choose to work from home." Bastids.
  10. Added to that, part of the reason for the ongoing lack of acceptance of the referendum result is how close it was, because that makes it all the easier to believe that specific lies in the run-up to the referendum made the difference. If it had been 65-35, well, okay, a sober analysis could still easily attribute that to a deliberate drip-feed of misinformation over a longer period of time, but it wouldn't feel quite as much like daylight robbery. But when it's 51.9-48.1, it's not hard to think that a "TURKEY (population 76 million) IS JOINING THE EU" leaflet on every doormat and a "Britain's new border is with SYRIA and IRAQ" advert on every Facebook feed were enough to tip the scales, and I'll never not be at least a little bit angry about that.
  11. Fucking hell, John Carver is part of the Scottish coaching staff
  12. They chose a bland suit as their candidate, too, which didn't help get their vote out.
  13. In part it doesn't help that the Lib Dems always do their "it's a two-horse race" spiel complete with number-mangling leaflets and dodgy graphs, so when they released internal polling a few days ago saying they were 45-41 behind and closing the gap in what was ostensibly a rock-solid Tory seat, it was understandable that many commentators saw it as a "boy who cried wolf" scenario and didn't bother giving it much credence.
  14. That said, you'd need a different arrangement for NI because the party makeup is so different, and if you're doing that, you'll need to do it for Scotland, Wales and England too. Fun fun fun. Although given that they have no real say in the matter at the minute, letting the people of NI cast a second vote to say which UK-wide party they'd rather have in power does make some sense, particularly in a situation where there are devolved assemblies too. It's just selling the idea that would be the issue...
  15. A system of half FPTP, half party lists (i.e. this) would sort that to some extent. The SNP would win almost every FPTP seat and hence end up with about 45% of the MPs for Scotland - neatly corresponding to their vote share in the 2019 general election. (Of course the whole point of PR is that it allows people to vote differently, so you can't extrapolate as neatly as that, but still, it illustrates the point.) The SNP specifically would be against it, I imagine - turkeys and Christmas and that - but Scotland itself shouldn't be. Unfortunately the most notable country to use that system is Germany, so it'll never happen here.
