I don’t know if I’ve told this story before but I was an above average goalkeeper as a kid. About 16/17 playing for a team with my mates after being released by a professional team. I was injured with a bad back and sat watching my mates playing a cup semi final against a much better team for 119 minutes, at whitby towns ground (which was a big deal at that age). The whole team grafted their tits off for the whole game and it was 0-0 and going to penalties. The coach decides since I have a reputation (deserved) for saving penalties, he would bring me on last minute and we would win and both be heroes. With about 0.5 seconds of the game left the other team manage to have probably the worst shot on target they have managed in 12 odd games in their cup run, and because my back is fucked, I make a complete bollock of saving it and it goes in. So we lose 1-0 before penalties. The lads loved me at college on the monday.

From experience, there is no chance of “using” or “incorporating” grade 1 listed buildings in any kind of expansion. I would prefer to stay at St James’ but the reality of expansion seems minuscule due to planning constraints. Construction wise and structurally wise it’s possible but it would be cheaper and easier to build elsewhere.

How are Newcastle council for allowing unwanted development? In Manchester the larger developers seem to have no issue pushing through ugly builds that aren’t thought through, we are trying to rebuild a social use building (think woman’s refuge) that is falling down, free of charge for the council and add a few flats on top to make it viable for us and still struggling to get it approved. Pretty shite day tbh. My old man has been having on going treatment for bowel cancer for 4 years. All seemed to be going well but he recently hasn’t been doing too well and today he decided to stop all further treatment. Seems a weird thing to say but proud of him making what is the right (if painful) decision, it should be pretty quick now and his pain can be managed. If something doesn’t feel right get it checked out, I know some of you enjoy having your arseholes played with but even those that don’t.
