if the mackems finish in the top half of the table I'd actually be really quite impressed, to the point I'd be inclined to doff me hat to them.

but they won't.

I was talking to a taxi driver pre Chelsea who reasured me their results were due to them playing only low quality teams so far, however, after they beat Chelsea, I'm confused. Are Chelsea not playing very well at the moment? Were Sunderland just very lucky? I fear they will get into the Champions League this season, although if the odds are 8/1, the bookies must be quite confident they will either start to drop or we will improve significantly?

Me too. I think I’d actually start going to see them.
So I could shit in their streets and seats.
Fulfil my lifelong dream of taking a slice of cheese to a match.
Eye up toothless old wifeys in blazers outside the stadium.
Start calling people I meet marra instead of mate.
Start caring more about Newcastle results than Sunderland ones — oh, hang on, I think I do that already.
Buy a new dog and call it Callum.
Move back into me mother’s house and live in the loft.
And most importantly, not be able to go to a match because it’s cold, or one of me marras is getting married — rather than because it’s impossible to get a fucking ticket.

As predicted the mackems are unbearable at the moment. Funny thing is, everybody on here and who I know in RL has said fair enough, they deserve it. I couldn't comment on their football as I don't watch them but they've done very well for a promoted team. However, according to Hoxton mackem.....

I mean, I can never remember any of them saying we were lucky, opposing teams being shit, or outright bribery of officials, et fucking cetera, can you?

Very next post, at least rob79FTM is honest.

Notwithstanding, I’m unsure why they need any credit from us when the rest of the entire footballing world is apparently high-fiving them in the street, complimenting their Punch & Judy garbs whilst hating the Mags anarl. Marra.

It's true. This poster is one of the more normal ones. Stated objective, not win the FA cup. Finish above the mags marra

Does toonraider2 support Sunderland? I cannot get if it is a joke or if they actually do.

I thought that I had lost interest in Sunderland because they had been relegated, other than the Netflix series, which was absolute gold, they were irrelevant. I thought I would be interested again when they got back to the Premier League or when we were relegated again (under Ashley). However, I feel more invested in my dislike of Liverpool and Manchester United still.

It's fucking insane! I said to one of them the other day that Xhaka was an inspired signing and he was literally waiting for a counterbalance. Blew his mind that I didn't come out with something disparaging.

I've not been watching their games but to go to Chelsea and pick up 3 points is commendable but they do need a smidge of perspective when you look at who they've played:

West Ham - dogshit
Burnley - abject (and lost to them)
Brentford - decent result
Palace - decent result
Villa - been shite by their standards
Forest - least said, the better
Man Utd - inconsistent (and lost to them)
Wolves - dogshit
Chelsea - decent result

Next 10 games they've got:

Everton H
Arsenal H
Fulham A
Bournemouth H
Liverpool A
Man City A
Newcastle H
Brighton A
Leeds H
Man City H

See how they're doing on NYE

Should be more like 13th and are running 5 points ahead of expectation at this stage. Brilliant for them, and will probably keep them up, but they're in a false position currently and it'll sort itself out in the long run.

This is the final table from last season sorted by expected points:

Screenshot_20251028-085458.thumb.png.9a9de06f3effff53a59c57a5e50fc1d5.png

Forest ran FIFTEEN points ahead of expectation and "should" have finished 14th and not 7th, so clearly "the long run" can be a period of more than 38 games (ie. Luck doesn't "even itself out over a season". But we're seeing the real Forest this season (partly because we're seeing the REAL Chris Wood), and not just because their owner is pissing about with stuff.

I work with a lot of Sunderland fans and I have experienced the same from a few of them. Most are level-headed but there are a few waiting for me to have a go at them. Because of the transfer window, I know that they have signed a few players who will be going to AFCON but I have not got the foggiest if they play in the starting 11 or even make the bench.

I don't care where we are in the table currently. Having Howe, is like when we had Bobby Robson, don't really care how we start a season as they always manage to do well with us.

I genuinely couldn't give a fuck what they do tbh, nor do I think their results should be a focal point for us UNLESS it's in our interests.

It's more than likely CL places will go to the top 4 this season and Chelsea will there or thereabouts. So any result that hampers those efforts is fine by me - even if it includes the Mackems winning.

Those cunts are absolutely obsessed. Their existence revolves around us and it's fucking tragic. They're currently 4th in the PL above Man City, Man United, Liverpool & Chelsea yet all they're focused on is FTM. Mental!

I really do think a lot of them would prefer to see us lose than their team win. In fact based on RTG I'm convinced that we're the only reason some of them even follow the sport at all.

Nothing will ever epitomise this more than that image of them celebrating at the SOS - not because they'd survived relegation, that had been confirmed a couple of minutes earlier, but because we hadn't.

Priorities, man.
