  3. It was an obvious offside but the current rules are the rules so the lino isn't to blame. More importantly to me, a direct rival is now a bit weaker and therefore increases our chances of CL qualification.
  4. Maybe you’re confused on who was offside? The offside player was Elanga in the build up not the one who hurt himself going for a cross. Through ball from Forests own half for Elanga who was offside by about 3 yards. Elanga runs the ball down field and crosses. Forest lad knackers himself on the goalpost. Then the flag goes up for Elanga being offside which was obvious from the get go.

  6. I've struggled to follow this a bit but.. is the argument here that the offside ruling is to blame because a player ran into a goalpost, on the basis that had the whistle gone, that never would have happened? Surely the same thing would have happened if he was onside as well, meaning that the offside call is fairly irrelevant. What am I missing?
  7. I know exactly what you’re saying. If he were to spend the rest of his career as a substitute then I’d had no problem with that as he always gives 100% on the pitch despite his obvious limitations. The feeling I get from him though and the way he has spoken previously is that he wants to play football and fair play to him for that.
  8. Maybe right mate, but he must realise we as a club (his club) are on the up. And he isn’t going to be a starter ahead of the lads playing now. Maybe it’s me putting myself in his position, I would rather be a squad player who is well liked at Newcastle than a regular starter for a Moyes Everton for example.
  9. His original deal ran out this summer, he signed a one year extension, I suspect so we can get a fee for him.
  10. I don’t think he would be happy at being an odd sub. He’s a honest lad, the type I think just wants to play football and that’s why I think he hasn’t signed an extension.
  11. Left footed as well which we don’t have in midfield. Dont think we should be selling longstaff if we don’t have to, just going off my impressions he seems like a really good squad member and happy to play a bit part. Home grown which we may need for squad registration purposes depending on what Eddie wants to do with the kids. No idea what the money situation is or the appetite for risk regarding transfers though
  12. I have no idea what sort of fettle he’s likely to be in after two(?) seasons of bullshit in West London but I always through Dewsbury Hall was a decent player as well as a Tudor mansion in Shropshire
  13. Just don’t do a Belanov and try to nick some jewellery in the KDW in between.
  14. Miley and Sean both cover the same role. The right sided 8, I think the kids call it. Bruno’s current position, basically
  15. I’d go for Douglas Luiz, especially if we get CL football. He is out of favour at Juve.
  16. We’ll have an empty seat on the bench Seriously though, I wish him all the best- it’s definitely the right thing to do, and he’s been a very good servant to the club throughout his entire time here. His purple patch where we didn’t lose if he was playing was at the perfect stage in our club’s resurrection for him to get his place in the XI, we’ve now moved past that and he needs regular games which he’ll get at the sides in the 14-16th place slots like Everton, Man U and Spuds. Good lad, and good luck.
  17. Aye, if we’re apportioning blame here then the post needs to take a long hard look at itself. Craig’s next idea to protect footballers:
  18. I mean £12m does convert to a £60m deal because he's a home grown player. And with 12months left on his contract, who is going to pay us more than £12mil for our 6th choice CM?
  19. Aye, that’s what I meant. ‘We’ll buy one of your best players in late June to get you out of a hole if you take Longstaff off our hands in early July (start of the new accounting year).’
  20. Heaton Stan v Morpeth Town in the Northumberland FA Senior Cup final tonight at SJP if anyone’s doing nowt. Cash only turnstiles in the east stand
  21. Champion. Go anywhere, wear my USSR 88 top and shit myself in a doorway after 15 pints and 5 curry wursts. Sounds like normal holiday for me
  22. I’ve seen worse players than Longstaff go for more than £25 million. He has been a regular in sides performing at the right end of the table and even chipped in with 8 goals or so last season. There’ll be a few teams who will fancy getting him a run of games. It’s also telling that everyone that plays with him and manages him says he’s a good player
  23. You'd understand better if you took your anti-Longstaff tunnel vision specs off.
