Just reminded me but did anyone else catch that John Pilger film about the US and its Pacific bases? Looked canny but I've only seen the start and recorded it. Quite surprised to see it on ITV at a reasonable time (think it started at 10). It wasn't pulling any punches.

No but he's stuggled when the pressure has been on his bowling (i.e. when he's been the one needed to bowl a side out in the 4th innings like in the Windies that time). But, aye his record isn't to be sniffed at at Test level.

I think, with that in mind, batting at 5 is the highest you could have him and even then it's probably not ideal. If Buttler does well at 7 though he doesn't have to stay there so he could progress up the order in time. 5 is probably the highest you'd have him too though.

Oh, I got that, I was just saying it's an odd thing for them to throw at us. I know they've won stuff a lot more recently but it's still getting on for 30 years with them. And they've spent most of that period in the 2nd tier. Massive club though, obvs

It would be normally but having the likes of Stokes, Woakes, Moeen and Rashid in the side means it's less of an issue.

I think the issue there is that Bairstow and Buttler are both still learning as wicketkeepers but the former now has a lot more experience (especially recently) behind the stumps in the longer form of the game which I don't think the management will want to waste.

Could've been better but at 250-5 it could've been a lot worse. Obvious thing to say but the morning session tomorrow is massive.
