Think some people are getting somewhat carried away. Questioning if its good business is a no-brainer - there's only 6 (7 when the Torres deal completes) transfers that have cost more in history. When you look at names such as Ronaldo, Kaka, Figo & Zidane and see Carroll up there it's utter madness and we'd be fucking nuts not to accept.

Course he needs replacing but this is Ashley's chance to make good on his intentions. If he doesn't allow the money to be spent come 11pm, he's going to be in a very uncomfortable position.

The need to replace him is seperate from the fact that it's fantastic business.

We really need to be working around the clock to bring in a replacement now. Hopefully that is why there won't be a press conference today. If we bring in some shoddy Championship striker as a replacement then it will be an absolute shambles. Ben Arfa was a step in the right direction, and if we don't continue in that way then we are back int he relegation scrap.

It won't be reinvested though. Seriously, given the history of the fat fucker here and everything he's done, does anyone truly believe that it will be used to buy players? The policy has been set, bring them in young and cheap then sell them high. The summer will be spent scouring the lower leagues and abroad for cheap young uns. It's like the 80s all over again, except with less shit music.

This would be a great deal is we were to spend huge cash on a 20goal a season striker NOW and use the remaining cash on improving the rest of the squad(another striker, wingers, full back cover).

Unfortunately, all I can see happening is Samaras or fucking Heskey on loan.

This pretty much means Enrique is gone in the near future. FAT MAN ASHLEY YOUR A CUNT

How?

Just shows that if a decent offer comes in, fat man will accept. He has no thought for the future of the club, building us up to a quality prem club again. he wants a quick return and then fuck off. I can see 35 mill into his pocket then us up for sale. you watch

Rumours going around the deal is 30 mill plus David N'gog.

Oh please don't be true.

What a horrible day this is turning out to be. £35m is more his worth but we can't sell him now because a.) we can't reinvest the money, and b.) his goals would have probably kept us up. Fact of that matter is that we'll probably get more money out of staying up than we would for selling him.

Going the rest of the season with the likes of Ranger, Best, and Ameobi is unthinkable.

ngog is shit compared to carroll

And there is NO WAY on God's green earth that Carroll is worth £35 million quid.

you just can't turn that money down, almost means, in financial terms, that the relegation never happened.

Would have loved to keep him (still hoping in a way) but this is just ridiculous cash they're talking here. He's still one loss of temper away from clink.

I'd have accepted in his shoes like. FMA couldn't lose today, I'd have understood either decision, whatever he decided wasn't going to affect how I feel about him good or bad.

The deals 30 mill plus under 21 French international David N'gog

Is that happening or something you've made up?

As you say, he's only ok-not as bad as people are making out.

What adequate replacement would come on the wages we're currently prepared to pay anyway? And if we got lucky and got a talented young player in the summer who came good we couldn't reasonably be expected to hold onto him when clubs come knocking.

Sad day for the club imo.

This.

Find it strange that people are looking on this as good business.

It signals our intentions one way or the other. No Ifs or buts.

Im bookmarking this, should we win Wednesday and you'll be posting about Ashleys vision in getting rid.
