The pub was full of Newcastle fans, one of whom asked this bloke if he was a Sunderland fan. He said ‘Yes, what are you going to do about it?’ The person who asked and all his mates moved to another table. That was the end of it and it was exactly what went down. It’s a bit like on Eastenders or whatever when an altercation ends the exact moment someone is bundled out of the pub and the door is closed. You forget that their stadium is a tourist destination of some renown. Who wouldn't want to park in an industrial estate and gawp at the majestic wonder of a flat pack arena the likes of which are never seen outside of Reading, Middlesbrough, Southampton, Stoke, West Brom, Swansea, Cardiff... Then stroll around that industrial park, buy some tiles, get an MOT. Verbal and physical abuse for no apparent reason became the norm. It was often spat at, humiliated in public and made to carry Spice on its ribcage between houses by people it'd trusted to continue the warm, loving environment it'd become accustomed to.
