  9. Johnson doesn't strategise, he blunders from one disaster to another on a daily basis. What was the point? Because he could.. Remember what a narcissistic cunt the man is. I hope his toxic legacy eats him every day of his life going forward.

  10. To which Boris nodded along with sagely at the time. And then he tried to sell his “oven ready” deal like he was some master of negotiation when his effort made Lee Charnley’s deal for Joelinton look good

  11. Labour need to dine out on this shit just as the Tories did with the 2008 crash. Brown steered us through it better than most world leaders but a global crisis became “Labour’s crash”. The Tories are going to own hard Brexit and all the economic devastation that comes with it. The pandemic is global but Cummings and Johnson ballsed it up more than most. Voters need to be consistently reminded of these failures

  12. I think no-one foresaw the replacement of the press by social media as many people’s main or only source of news. Since there is virtually no moderation of content, it’s a place where bullshit flourishes, and serves to reinforce prejudices, bigotry and false narratives. This means politicians can spout blatant lies and nonsense without fear of contradiction or consequences....any attempt to challenge or fact check is met with the “fake news” mantra and they refuse to be held to account. I’m not saying much of the press is anything but self interested scumbaggery but in the past the

  13. We went to the Quayside market on Sunday. I’d say only 40%, at best, of the people there had masks on, social distancing was a distant memory, and no fucker used the multiple hand-sanitiser stations that I could see. We didn’t stay long

  17. Absolutely that. He’s just stumbled into it. And he’d have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for that pesky pandemic. He’s just a charming (not to me, but clearly to many) conman who came up against a joke of an opposition leader at the right time (for him).

  18. I think there will be panic buying from mid November, especially if there are more regional flare ups of Covid that require lock down . The haulage industry will grind to a halt before Christmas, meaning no fresh veg for Xmas dinner for millions. There will be other, as yet unknowable shortages too...if they include vital drugs & medicines I think Johnson will wish he jacked his hand round about now, before Parliament returns. Then the tories can have their patsy in place all ready for this winter, which appears to me at this distance likely to be unlike any other we’ve experienced....

  19. Johnson and Trump are similarly arrogant and narcissistic and obviously don’t consider themselves accountable to the press or the people. In Trump’s case he actively goes after the press corps, especially asian women/women of colour. Obviously deliberately to undermine the press but also because he’s big ol’ racist. I expect old etonian Johnson is contemptible of everyone, possibly with the exception of the Queen. Like a fat Lucius Malfoy with bad hair and added shambles.

  20. I think if Trump wins we can expect a doubling down of his approach in this country. Not necessarily the incitement to violence, but the continued ripping up of norms and encouragement of increasingly loopy ideas. As an example, has anyone seen any Tory MPs speak out about the insane Trafalgar Square protests? No, because these are their people and they don't want to alienate them. That's not a million miles removed from the GOP's silence on Trump nutters taking to the streets.
