Brilliant signing, brilliant week. It looks like the penny has finally dropped for Fat Mike. This is just what we needed to lift spirits inside and outside the stadium. Even if some of these players don't fully live up to expectations, we're made a positive move at the time when it was needed most and it will be sure to improve morale.

 brilliant news, tomorrow's going to be a bit boring given the excitement over the last few days. Glad Ashley allowed those at the club responsible for bringing players in to go and sign up who they wanted, when he could have easily waited for the contracts to run down. Aye he should have bought in the summer but this is a brilliant boost at an important time.

amazing to have signed three current french internationals. never would have called this in a million years at the start of this window.

can we dream of another striker? we still arguably need one but i wouldn't be disappointed if that was our fill now.

It could well be that it's cheaper to buy now than wait until the summer. We sign them now for 'nominal' fees, we wait until the summer and they're likely to have more options and more time to drive up their wages.

Compare them to their English equivalents and how much they'd cost and there's the argument for us shopping abroad.

ideally it would be lovely to have a team full of young geordies who grow up on the terraces and bled black and white, but as that isnt gonna happen whether the players come from yorkshire, london, scotland, france, senegal or timbuktu really makes little difference to me as long as they do the team proud.

sorry that sentence turned out to be a little too long. cant be chewed to turn it into a paragraph though im afraid

Aye good point, 'frees' normally ask for bigger wages in all. Guess it's worked in our favour whatever the reasoning.
