  6. You're never alone with Twitter and the internet mate. When you tell your grandkids in the future perhaps that will be least surprising aspect of your memories. Joelinton scoring the winner however...;)

  9. The official positive test number is between 1.5k and 2k per day. But you need to multiply this by 5, conservatively, to estimate the true infection rate. This was bought up by a journalist in the briefing yesterday and not denied, also was discussed in channel 4 news. R, which essentially reflects incidence, is important, but so is prevalence. I don't think we are getting out of this soon amd yesterday was another set back.

  14. My uncle gave me the match programme from the 55 cup final. He was behind the goal was Milburn scored after a minute. Just imagine my memories if we win it. ”aye lad I remember watching that one on YouTube, alone”

  16. Which they’ll probably see as justification for doing it. All they seem to be arsed about, by they I mean the politicians because the Whitty and co seem genuinely concerned is, the death rate falling and the nhs being seen to be able to cope. The fact hundreds are still dying everyday is almost an afterthought

  17. Pubs are still shut, sporting events are not happening, most people are social distancing in shops. It won't be carnage, it will be a gradual worsening of the situation imo, but not reaching the heights of mid April. Still depressing. And I don't see going back to a stricter lock down is remotely feasible, plus you furloughers are going back to work.

  18. Been doing that round our way since the start of it. But the bellends round here don't seem to need an excuse to set off a firework.

  19. Yeah, the 5 rules haven't been met by any means, still aboutb10,000 estimated new infections per day and nowhere near enough functional capacity to test enough people. Vallance and Whitty looked very worried. I mean, you invite 6 people over to your house for a BBQ with social distancing. Have a few drinks. What could possibly go wrong?

  20. I didn’t see the briefing but caught the news. Johnson announces the easing of lockdown before handing over to the deputy CMA who tells us infection rates are still high and the rate of new daily cases is still high and the R number is close to 1. It would be funny if it wasn’t so serious

  24. In 2017 Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt severed all ties with Qatar over the country’s alleged support of extremist groups and interference in neighbours’ affairs. Now the repercussions of that once parochial squabble have reached Gallowgate, and Geordies fear their dreams of returning to the Champions League may prove a cruel chimera. Although sources close to the Newcastle deal remain confident the takeover will be rubber-stamped in the next week or so, geopolitics have replaced Joelinton’s goal drought as the stuff of Newcastle fans’ nightmares. made me laugh

  28. Urghh. People like this genuinely make me feel sick. I recall a discussion I had at University once about this, a couple who were my friends at the time and still sort of are. Both upper middle, lower upper class, private school educated, who believed they had achieved their academic successes because of the genes they had inherited, rather than their incredibly privileged upbringing. For the sake of our friendship we had to just leave it there (they were genuinely nice people), but the arrogance of them was fucking galling. They later had a messy divorce and not particularly successful careers as it happens. It's inbred in this country probably moreso than anywhere else in the world. It's also related to the sense of entitlement and British exceptionalism I mentioned before. I find it even more rankling than the disparity seen in the US tbh, at least there you have a theoretical chance of betterment, even if it is largely illusory. As long as we have the class system, spear headed by the monarchy, nothing will really change.

  31. I did think it was a bit soon to start letting the MSM off the hook Although in fairness to the rest of them, the BBC is running scared of the Tories far more than anyone else. I would presently trust Piers Morgan over any BBC journalist.. And that's just crazy.

  33. I see the mad twat is having a go at social media for actually suggesting that people fact check his rants, suggesting that he will close them down if they don't allow him to spout utter lies under the pretext of free speech. Apparently social media tried to interfere with the 2016 election (no, really?). Presumably he is concerned that Putin's buddies won't be able to get him a second term. All while 100,000 people have died due to his utter incompetence. Even that figure is presumably worth celebrating, because it it is the highest in the world #MAGA
