  5. There you gan lads, Luke totally ignores the fact that in those losses/draws early on under Rafa the team showed shape and ideas compared to the games so far this season that have showed absolutely no semblance of a plan. We could barely muster up a chance, only scoring a goal that has since been declared an error that VAR should have overruled, against Watford ffs. I get he’s playing devils advocate and sticking up for his mate but he’s making himself look like he knows nothing about football.

  10. We'll all remember where we were and what we were doing on the night Andy Carroll made the bench at St James' against Brighton.

  11. Yeah I see what you're saying, but not investing in poor communities and increasing social mobility has led us to exactly the same place. People going 'what's the point?' There is no point without a more level playing field and more equal spreading of wealth, not for those starting at the bottom.

  13. Err, prices continuing to increase at a rate above inflation is, apart from being very damaging to many people in society, ultimately unsustainable. It might not be you who gets bitten on the arse by it, it might not be your kids (although I can’t see something not having to give before too long) but, if not, it’ll probably be theirs. I don’t mean to have a go at you as an individual but it simply can’t be allowed to continue if you want future generations (including your own family) to be able to buy their own place. Otherwise at some point nearly everyone will be renting from a very small group of very wealthy individuals.

  15. Are you saying that the same opportunities are available to younger people as they were to older people? I mean, I shouldn't have to pay the pensions of people who retire at 65 when I will probably be working until 78 (or more likely the day I die) - and yet I have no choice. I mean seriously, I recall in the early 2000s my parents bought a house for around £90k and then 5 years later sold it for £200k immediately paying off their entire mortgage. If that kind of benefit occurs in my lifetime as an adult I'll be absolutely amazed. That generation were lucky as sin to live through the era they did, a Labour era I'll stress, while all my generation has had is years of 'drawbridge pulling up' Tory bollocks. In answer to your question - if I had worked hard through my young age, as I have, and put spare funds away, as I have, and bought property with the money - and then was told later in life when I'm comfortable and without financial concern that someone was going to buy the house I was renting out at some kind of agreed upon rate that would enable them to have a better life and had the net positive effect that society wouldn't literally tear itself apart further down the line, then yeah I probably would be ok with it as long as it was being done in a fair and equitable way. I would expect them to start at the very top of society and work down - you know, the ones who haven't actually worked all that hard but were born into their wealth and network based privilege.

  16. Who gets to go on the show? How are they vetted? There's stooges who go on masquerading as the general public and I don't think this will change any time soon as later discovery of a stooge has less impact than their outraged point when originally broadcast. The show is as much 'entertainment' and viewing figures I'd guess as politics and I really can't take it as read that this is a true microcosm of the population. I just don't trust the production management or their motives and the guest list is usually populist, controversial, skewed to a right wing panel or a combination of the lot. A couple of minutes watching it by chance is all I can manage before it goes off.

  19. loathe to give these horrible cunts much attention, but just quickly dipped in to the world of third division football to see they managed a last minute draw with -9 points bolton. in these dark days i suppose it's a small crumb of comfort that the apparently newly crowned richest club in the entire world.... ever, are looking up to wycombe wanderers and fleetwood town!

  25. Love how the same people who think everyone can just make themselves better, normally from the generation where social mobility was actually a great deal easier, also seem to think it’s some sort of divine right that the property they own should increase in value in real terms year on year. Whilst, at the same time, failing to realise the latter is a massive obstacle to the former.
