  1. Was interesting watching the incompetent prick getting grilled by Adam Boulton yesterday. He was repeatedly trying to draw a distinction between "apparent bias" and "actual bias", saying that they had admitted apparent bias in court but absolutely refuted the claim that there was actual bias. Also, that they had admitted "apparent bias" to allow the applicant an opportunity to have the decision reviewed - Boulton had to point out that the applicant is the tory donor that's had his planning request approved. He's not about to ask for them to check again. Honestly you just want to reach through the screen and crush their windpipes.

  2. I know everything is political anyway but, as you suggest, it really is a joke when we’re told not to politicise party politics and the government. There was a case for it during the Second World War which was clearly different (we won for a start). You’ve got an incredibly inept government without any semblance of a strategy with blood of thousands of people on their hands. Even that would be bad enough but the priorities even at this stage are giving contracts to their mates and protecting the de facto PM who is a fucking incompetent, ego and agenda driven sociopath instead of getting their house in order and saving lives. But please, watch your tone

  9. In 2017 Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt severed all ties with Qatar over the country’s alleged support of extremist groups and interference in neighbours’ affairs. Now the repercussions of that once parochial squabble have reached Gallowgate, and Geordies fear their dreams of returning to the Champions League may prove a cruel chimera. Although sources close to the Newcastle deal remain confident the takeover will be rubber-stamped in the next week or so, geopolitics have replaced Joelinton’s goal drought as the stuff of Newcastle fans’ nightmares. made me laugh

  12. Urghh. People like this genuinely make me feel sick. I recall a discussion I had at University once about this, a couple who were my friends at the time and still sort of are. Both upper middle, lower upper class, private school educated, who believed they had achieved their academic successes because of the genes they had inherited, rather than their incredibly privileged upbringing. For the sake of our friendship we had to just leave it there (they were genuinely nice people), but the arrogance of them was fucking galling. They later had a messy divorce and not particularly successful careers as it happens. It's inbred in this country probably moreso than anywhere else in the world. It's also related to the sense of entitlement and British exceptionalism I mentioned before. I find it even more rankling than the disparity seen in the US tbh, at least there you have a theoretical chance of betterment, even if it is largely illusory. As long as we have the class system, spear headed by the monarchy, nothing will really change.

  13. That's the Mrs' setup, as you could tell if you could see the potted succulent and scented candle. Mine is out of shot to the left of the box of beer, a hint to the state of it is the scrawled notes on the notebook and the errant lead. Northern Monk Brewery was where we celebrated our wedding. Yes, I successfully organised a piss-up in a brewery.

  14. Can’t we stop bickering about unnecessary deaths, back-handers and incompetence and Just Get It Done?

  15. I don’t think there’s a single aspect of this that has been handled well. Even the NHS capacity has been at a terrible cost with the care homes deaths alone. That’s before we can even guess at the knock on with missed cancer treatments etc. Everything else has been an unmitigated disaster

  24. Look at the direct aftermath of Grenfell. When there was the suggestion some of the poor buggers might be re-homed in the affordable housing part of a luxury development. Some fucking posh bint who was about 20 was complaining about it(even in the climate of public sympathy at that time) going on about how hard the people had worked who bought property there. She probably had the apartment bought for her and you can guarantee most of the Grenfell Tower residents worked a canny bit harder than she’d ever had to. They seem to buy into the notion they’ve 100% earned it and deserved so they can kid themselves they aren’t heartless bastards.

  30. The fucking effort they put into the benefits system shake up which cost money instead of saving it. Then they openly admit to saving their mate tens of millions in tax, admit it was against the law and imply the incredibly convenient timing was a coincidence.

  31. Censorship eh. So Cummings breaks the rules and keeps his job. She tells it how it is and gets stepped down. The only apology over all this affair is coming from the BBC. what a fucking joke.

  43. I’ve heard that Paul McCartney died in 1966 and was replaced by a bloke from Clitheroe called Nigel. Nigel introduced the band to dominos, and they won the North West amateur league in 1967 under the team name Blank Four. Don’t know how true it is, but the person that told me is a plumber called Mick.
