  1. We want to experience a culture we might feel uncomfortable with, too. It’s called success.

  2. It’s going to be a fucking farce if it’s held anywhere other than SJP tbh. Bowyer vs Dyer and Ugly Mackems vs Alex on the undercard.

  3. I genuinely can’t understand why anyone, anywhere, anytime is interested in Merson’s opinion about anything. He’s a complete fucking moron, even by the standards of ex-professional footballers

  5. Aye, fingers crossed for you. It’s no laughing matter at your age.

  6. And although Holt is undoubtedly a twat I haven't seen anything too controversial from him on the matter. He's quite entitled to point out the crimes and human rights violations of the Saudis as long. It's when people begin criticising us as fans for being excited by the future for the first time in nearly twenty years that they can get fucked.

  8. Bravo on this PL, you’ve absolutely decimated the bloke . Glad he gets to actively participate in the sports washing that he reviles, but others who have less choice have to stand against it. I suppose it would have been way more of a shame if he missed out on “one of the biggest events of the year” than us not getting to follow football, all he’s asking us to do is turn our back on our football club and basically lose out on what is likely our biggest interest in life. I also love that people like him and Delaney aren’t grasping why we’re getting mad at them, and keep acting like it’s only the regime they’re going after. By linking the excitement of the fans at being rid of Ashley, the #cans craic, etc to the evils the Saudis do is not merely suggesting the regime have short comings, that’s having a pop at fans who have no control over the deal. You and Wykiki have hit the nail on the head that the people they would go after if they truly do care about this is people like AJ, the British Government, the Monarchy, and Mike Ashley. He has absolutely zero ground to stand on if he’s saying that him traveling to Saudi Arabia, and covering that boxing match is somehow less complicit in sports washing than an NUFC fan attending a game at St James’ (it’s clearly far more complicit seeing as he’s actively giving them press etc as well), same with Delaney and taking part of his pay cheque from them. Fwiw Holt had a choice to not cover it as you pointed out, the same that Delaney could work for another newspaper, both those things are far easier to do and have little to no real impact on those blokes lives than asking a Newcastle fan to stop supporting their football club. If they can’t see that then they should be ashamed of themselves as it’s essentially ignoring what it means to people to be fans of their club, it’s saying that fandom means less than a bloke having to go through the hassle of his changing job or missing out on going to a boxing event.

  9. Late to the party but I’ve just started watching Sunderland ‘Til I Die properly. About 5 episodes into season 1. The most incredible thing (of the many incredible things about it) is that it’s trying to portray the club in a good light. The title sequence as well

  10. I did and still do have a big problem with Joshua fighting in Saudi Arabia. He’s already a very wealthy man who had offers from all over the world to host that fight but he went to a country with no boxing tradition to fight in front of a few half arsed men in the desert for the cash. And completely ignored the human rights issues in that country. I think that’s a different situation though to our takeover. We don’t have hundreds of buyers fighting over us and more importantly we don’t have a say in the matter. NUFC is still the same club, this isn’t the NFL and they’re not moving SJP brick by brick to Riyadh. And I don’t recall any Sky Sports or BT refusing to broadcast the fight on moral grounds. I don’t remember any journalists refusing to go to Saudi Arabia to cover the fight. But it seems that some journalists want to hold us to a higher moral standard than anyone else.

  11. It almost looks like they’ve created yet another perfectly indisputable argument to prove they’re the classy, incredibly moralistic ones. They’ll never get to make that choice so can always pretend they have the moral highground. I’m perfectly happy for them to have it, I hope they get a warm sense of pride as they have Newcastle v Barcelona on the tv on a Wednesday night while they listen to Scunthorpe v Sunderland on the radio. This is a fan base that genuinely said they’d take Lee Cattermole and Jack Colback over Cabaye and Tiote. They absolutely cannot talk rationally when NUFC is involved in the topic.

  17. I live 5 min from the border, admittedly in the middle of fucking nowhere, but Spokane is about 2.5 hrs away and is a great time out, university town so lots of live music. That being said I won't go anywhere (if the border wasn't closed) near the fucking place for a while, shit is getting weirder and weirder down there. The worst is yet to come I fear.

  22. All that was a couple of weeks ago, I can’t be arsed with the fuckin hypocritical cunt. I asked and got a response. It’s out there now, however I’m not a massive thirsty twitter twat, I’ve got about 200 followers, mostly bots, naked lasess and cunts trying to sell something. Although someone called ...*checks notes*... Chester Copperpot re tweeted my question to Holt out of the blue earlier so I expect that’s someone on here, thanks whoever it is

  25. I'm going to stress as well that when I was managing operations in my previous job, I had to make commitments to get a certain amount of product out of the door by certain points, usually up to several pallets worth of books that that had to be made within a few days. While i was able to judge the time needed myself at the start, it was on understanding that i wouldnt miss the deadline i gave myself. If I was a day out, I would be crucified. People make the mistake of judging this shit as if government ministers should be held to the same standard as normal people in every day tasks. They should not. They should be held to the standards and beyond, that I was held to. Especially when they're actually weighing people's lives against what they're promising, not just company profits as I was. I fucking hated the pressure of those orders, as I'm sure Hancock came to hate this, but... IT WAS MY FUCKING JOB.

  26. If our takeover goes through we’re gonna have all kinds of new fans, including 30 million from Saudi Arabia. We just need find a way to ostracise them. I’d suggest becoming overly attached to the Gallowgate Puddle so when it’s eventually removed we can get precious about it. ”Ah remember this when it was all Puddle” I say loudly to a Southerner with Neymar on the back of his shirt.

  32. There are no words for my hatred of this government. They have turned a serious scientific/medical point into a political one. Hancock is a snivelling cum stain of a man. The media are also complicit on this, for several reasons. This country is rotten to the core after 10 years of these srseholes, both groups. I'm not sure which I hate most. I'll go with the politicians, cos Gloom seems okay. So does Bridget tbf, but she understandably dumped us!

  33. Why isn't he questioning the likes of Joshua choosing to have a fight there? Or Fat Cunt choosing to sell to them?

  34. Setting an ambitious target and almost hitting it is a good achievement, tarnished by the government’s pathetic attempt to spin it. There would have been nothing wrong with just being honest and saying we almost got there but not quite.

  36. It says it is written by Alistair Magowan. I thought he was an impressionist? A particularly unfunny one at that. If his reporting is as accurate as his David Beckham and Sven-Goran Eriksson impressions were, then I shouldn’t imagine we have too much to worry about.

  37. The BBC during the last general election campaign hoyed a fair bit of weight behind a government complicit in this country’s alliance with Saudi Arabia. They, like a lot of other hypocritical cunts seem more arsed about this all of a sudden. It’s definitely not helping in terms of the light being shone on it because of the current situation meaning there’s no live sport but that doesn’t excuse these journalists

  38. Used to occasionally crack on with some random lads on the Friday teatime flight from Belfast when I was on my way home when I was working there. When we spent the season in the championship under Houghton a fair few were still coming over to watch premier league fixtures at the SoL. There was a bit of an Irish connection with Quinn, Keane and a few players so you could understand why. I never spoke to any of them who were actually staying in Sunderland though.
