Tough crowd on here ffs. We've spent £260m or something in three windows. A player has left unexpectedly at the end of the window, reportedly for £10m when he's nearly out of contract, and it frees up £70k per week. You can't say no to that. If no one comes in, it won't be for lack of effort, I'm sure.8 points

I think Howe (excuse the conjecture here) does like the look of Anderson, because he didn’t send him on loan. But, while it’s always good to give players an opportunity in a side playing well, we’re doing too well. By that I mean I don’t think Howe thought we’d be in a CL spot. There’s so much riding on the matches that has perhaps limited the opportunities for Anderson. If we were in 7th or 8th and concentrating on the cups it might be different. I wouldn’t judge him too harshly on the Sheff Wed game because of all the other changes. Agree with Gloom we’ll be looking to strengthen as Anderson’s lack of experience goes against him with the stakes being as high as they are.6 points

The Shelvey love in on Twitter has been doing my head in. You'd think he was Rob Lee ffs. We have Willock who can slot in at CM. Anderson a gamble if things really get to shite. It's not a great situation and would have been ideal to get a replacement for Shelvey but this is where our squad is. If either of Schar or Botman are injured we are screwed. If Tripper is, we are screwed. There's weaknesses that will take a few windows to resolve. The club has been clear in their approach that they will go only for the right man. Bit of patience and perspective needed.5 points

Gloom nailed on to get a red, gold and green pair with Ganja Kru on the right and left tongue instead of the swoosh4 points

Must be a flash London mid life crisis bellend thing, as I bought a pair (and a pair of the silver ones) last week. Important to look like a proper twat when doing the school drop off.4 points

Looks like the match has been called off as SSN didn't make any mention of it when I watched ten minutes of it and the BBC breakfast sports section also failed to say anything and the sports bit on BBC radio news I heard after dropping off the bairn to work haven't said a dickie bird about the semi-final of a cup competition. I'm sure they'll all say fuck all tomorrow as well when Man U play Forest for a place at Wembley.4 points

I think we're taking a real risk in terms of going for Champions League qualification if we don't have a midfielder come in. We all knew we were short at the begining of the window and although Shelvey has played very little this season. selling him certainly doesn't help matters. And I don't buy the theory that bringing Gordon in allows us to move Joelinton back more centrally. We've had Maxi pretty much fit since before the world cup so we already had that option (Isak further increased the options too). I'm certainly not going to whine on like an Arsenal fan as we're in a fantastic position (hopefully even better after tonight) but I think this would be the first failure of the new regime if we don't bring anyone else in. It might be that we carry luck with injuries and form and Bruno, Joelinton, Longstaff and Willock can carry us through the rest of the season. But even if that happens I think we will have been shown a little wanting this month in our recruitment.3 points

With regards to us and a central midfielder, wouldn’t be surprised if our general stance is to not sign stop-gaps, even on loan. Maybe due to FFP, maybe due to the fact that the likes of Hendrick and co are still lingering about on long deals. Plus, other than Gallagher, are there any Premier League central midfielders who we could get that represent a decent option? With Gordon, Joelinton can now be moved back so you have 4 players for 3 slots. It’s not ideal but Isak also opens the option to play 4-4-2 if need be so I’m not sure it’s the be all and end all if we don’t replace Shelvey. Especially if a long term target, who will actually improve us, becomes available early in the summer3 points
